I'll start this off with some comments. Hopefully a better player can correct any mistakes I make.

    1. I don't bet this flop. At these stakes, we might get called by worse, but I'd much rather wait until a lower card comes on the turn before I bet. In other words, our bet here is for very slim value, but if we bet the turn we can get value from a lot more hands, and we also get to keep the pot smaller with a not-great hand. As played, villain called a pot-sized bet on the flop... put in another pot-sized bet on the turn.

    2. This is a garbage hand. You got lucky to hit a flop, but most flops won't hit you. Unless you have a read that someone in the hand is a total spewtard and will get all-in very lightly on the flop, completing here is not profitable. The postflop bets are pretty good, but I'm not sure about calling the flop raise. Bottom two pair is somewhat vulnerable and these guys call lightly, so shoving over on the flop could be better. Definitely shove the turn. It's not much more than the pot, and with 2 villains in the hand on such a drawish board, you're getting called by a ton of worse hands.

    3. Raise preflop to like 80-100 (3x or 4x + 1 for the limper). With just one limper and our good position in the CO, we want to play a good hand heads-up against the limper. If there are a few limpers I fold, unless it's ATs, then I might limp behind. If you had raised, you could have c-bet that flop and taken down the pot, but as played you spent 20 chips to possibly fold the best hand.

    4. Good.

    5. You used 4x in the last hand, so you should use 5x here with one limper in the hand. Pretty awesome to pick up QQ twice in a row, and LOL @ bigtree's massive overshove.

    6. Fold preflop. These need to be suited to even think of calling, and even then I'm more likely to raise 87s on the button here with one limper. Two or more and I would just call with 87s.

    7. Fold preflop. If you really want to play it (not recommended, but not horrible), raise it up.

    8. Fold preflop. In later position I could see raising it up over 1 limper or limping behind, but in early position here it's best to just fold. I don't get your raise amount. Early on, it's generally best to stick to 4x+1x per limper, changing that to 3x once the blinds get to 25/50.

    9. Fold preflop. Only call if it's suited.

    10. Definitely reraise preflop. A big part of the power of AKs is its fold equity. You do not want to invite other people to come along and play a multiway hand with AKs. I'm making it like 500 and then putting PeedPot all-in on most flops. You can even just put him all-in preflop here pretty profitably, I think.

    11. Limping is meh here. I've done it myself at times, but lately I'm more likely to just fold 22 in early position. When the blinds are higher, depending on the table, I either fold it or raise it up.

    12. Easy fold preflop. Nice bet on the flop, though 80 might work just as well.

    13. I really don't like a bet on this flop. We can maybe bet the river after two more undercards, but in general I just check this down. Here you bet 2/3 pot but in hand 12 you bet full pot on a board with a similar texture. Make sure that your bet sizes are generally consistent on similar flops regardless of what your hand is. Probably 3/4 pot (75 and 225) in both hands would be fine.

    14. Definitely raise preflop. I like the flop bet, I like the turn check. The river bet could've been bigger: you're most likely beating him and it doesn't look like he's folding, so at least 600, maybe even another pot-sized bet would be good.

    15. Hate the minraise. Just put him all-in. I put him all-in with a pretty wide range here, and I'm definitely doing it with QQ.

    17. Not a bad complete.

K9s on button right after: I'd much rather limp behind in this position with this hand than with 87o.

QTo in MP a few after: Good fold. With the big blind having less that 10BBs, we don't want to have to call all-in with this hand, and open-shoving it is overly aggressive.

    18. Maybe in later position we can limp behind with this hand, but not from such early position.

    19. I'm not sure about leading this flop into 3 others. I probably check and see what happens behind me, betting a lot of turns if everyone else checks. I hate to see the minraise in your spot since it likely means we're beat, but I also have a hard time folding top pair here in a limped pot against a short stack, so I think putting him all-in was fine. I would appreciate other comments on this hand, though.

A4s: Folding is fine. Limping behind the big stack from the button is also fine, IMO.

    20. Raise preflop.

    21. Raise preflop, bet flop (if you had raised).

    22. I probably raise this preflop from the button over 1 limper, up to like 700.

    23. Pretty bad. Check/fold is much better here. Maybe if we had Qc9d we can play it like this.

    24. Easy shove I think. Completing is horrible.

A6s: Another shove since it folded to us. We cannot afford to go through the blinds again.

    25. There ya go!

88: Definitely shoving this one unless it's a weird bubble situation or csozso has been super-tight.

    26. Good.

A7o: I might shove this in spite of the limper. It depends on the limper's stack size and how much they've been limping. It looks like a lot from some of the other hands, so I say shove.

    Q8o: Shove.

    Q9o: Shove.

    27. Good.

    28. Very interesting. I think your line on the flop and turn was pretty good, but I'd be interested in hearing others' comments. I'm not sure about the river; check/shoving the turn (for value against a drawing hand or a crappy pair) would've been better than calling the turn then shoving the river. Your river shove here isn't getting called by many worse hands and I don't think it's folding many better hands at these stakes. As played on the turn, check/shoving the river is better because you give a bluffer a chance to give you some more chips.

A9o: Tough. I might shove this depending on how much the raiser has been raising.

    29. Good.

All-in-all, not bad. Your postflop play was mostly good, you just need to clean up a few issues with hand selection and not being aggressive enough preflop. Keep working at it, and good luck in your next one .

One more thing. Where I mention limping behind with a hand that you folded, I'm not saying you should be limping behind with these hands, just that these are the types of hands you want to limp behind with if you're going to be doing it. Don't treat a pair of Ks or As when you're holding K9 or A4 as the best hand. The value is in straight possibilities (TJQ, 235), big draws (pair + flush draw, flush draw + gutshot, etc), and flopped trips and two-pair hands. Don't limp if you're short stacked, and don't limp behind with these types of hands if there isn't a big stack in the hand or the big blind. These hands are good for their implied odds, and implied odds just aren't there when the stacks aren't big enough. Basically, treat these types of hands as you would a low pair.

Wow Doan, aweseme review. Thanks so much for taking the time. I will definately be working on my hand selection. I have been experimenting a little with speculative hands as im half way through "Kill Everyone" and am trying to see what I can come up with, but granted the 8 5o (hand 2) was very loose. Im taking the point of bet sizing pretty seriously too, trying to keep it uniform. A problem I realise I do have is late in tourneys in my Push/Fold range. so many times ive gotten into or near the money and loosened up to shove in position, maybe top %15 to %20 to be called by a worse hand and they catch up. EG A9 called by KJ, QJ, KT and being crippled after that. Any tips?

You are quite welcome. I've found that reviewing others' play has actually helped my game a lot. I'll be in a situation I've talked about in a post, I'll be about to make a play, and I'll say, "This has got to be spewing. Doing such-and-such here would be pretty hypocritical." So I'm starting to like commenting on others' play and also seeing what more experienced members say when they come along and comment on the play and on my comments.

This is really the best place to start. At these stakes, TAGG is definitely the way to go. The thing that's nice about it is that it's designed to give us easier decisions postflop against the idiots we'll be running into. Being a little looser preflop works better as you move up in stakes, when people are actually willing to lay down bottom pair.

I had a similar "super-speculative" hand that I played recently:

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tournament, 100/200 Blinds (9 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    SB (t1795)
    Hero (BB) (t4515)
    UTG (t2880)
    UTG+1 (t3600)
    MP1 (t24342)
    MP2 (t570)
    MP3 (t1920)
    CO (t2250)
    Button (t7670)

    Hero's M: 15.05

Preflop: Hero is BB with 2, 3
    1 fold, UTG+1 raises to t400, MP1 calls t400, 3 folds, Button calls t400, 1 fold, Hero calls t200

    Flop: (t1700) K, 3, 2 (4 players)
    Hero bets t1000, UTG+1 calls t1000, 2 folds

    Turn: (t3700) 4 (2 players)
    Hero bets t3115 (All-In), 1 fold

    Total pot: t3700

I had seen MP1 get all-in with Q-high on a previous hand, and he has a ton of chips, so I was looking for a huge jackpot. Unfortunately, UTG+1 wasn't quite as bad and the turn was horrible, so he folded KJ. Note that it's important to get a lot of value if we're playing hands like this. I sized my bet so that I could shove the turn. Even better would have been to do 1200 into 1700 on the flop and then 2915 into 4100 on the turn.

Next to hand selection, sizing bets and betting at the appropriate times is the next most important thing to learn. On drawish boards we should usually be betting 3/4 to full pot. On dryer boards we can bet 1/2-2/3 pot. Also, if our stack is less than 2x bigger than the pot, we should be adjusting our bet size to get all-in on the turn. If it's not much more than the pot, we should often just be going all-in on the flop, or on a dry board with a huge hand, checking and then going all-in on the turn.

The main tip is just to pay attention who you're shoving over. Are you shoving over a big stack who's content to sit on his chips and let people bust out? Are you shoving over someone with a similar-sized stack on the bubble? Are you shoving into a big stack who is calling with any two cards? The tighter someone is or the less they hurt you if they win, the more you can shove over them. If you're shoving A9 and getting called by a short stack's QJ, you're playing well. My only tip would be to try to not be results-oriented.

It also helps to have more chips when you get to this point so that you can survive beats, so it's important to be getting full value out of your hands. If a pot-sized bet gets called on the flop, put in another one on the turn. If you have a great hand and bet and get raised on the flop, you can often shove over or shove the turn and get called by bad draws and other weaker hands. If you raise AK or JJ preflop and get re-raised by a guy who re-raises a lot and calls lightly, you can just shove over. If you have KK in the blinds and someone has raised and gotten a few callers, you can just overshove and get called by some crazy crap (K7s anyone?). These guys are idiots and they will suck out on you, so it's important to do whatever we can to accumulate chips in the early going.

Keeping working on your game and you'll be in good shape. Good luck!
