I think you can still flat call and play for set value, if you do hit a set you will win a HUGE pot.
  3. #3
yeah i thought about calling for set value, but folded worried that someone would reraise behind me.
  4. #4
I dont think limping for set value is the correct move here, you put 10% of your stack hoping to hit a set, which is a bit too much I think.
I dont think a fold is bad here, although I would probably raise it to about 225-240 and take it from there

I normally dump small/medium pocket pairs if it's costing me 10% of my stack to see the flop. In this case there are several players still live and to act after you i.e. your call does not close the action, which makes flat calling even worse as your 150 chips does not guarantee you will see a flop

As TLR suggests, I would probably throw in a reraise with JJ as folks raise with all sorts of crap at $2 tables

When's the last time you played a $2 SNG? I shove all day in this spot on Stars in the $1 and $3 SNGs and get called by some stupid stuff.... A6, KT, 55, 97s, etc. With the dead money in the pot and it being early, I don't too much mind flipping, either. If you lose, just sign up for another one. You win a lot against 1 or 2 callers and have like 3300-4800 chips, propelling you to an easy win.

Hate to say it, but DoanDiggy is pretty much right. Don't sweat it, folding here is not bad in a decent game with good players, but in a $2, shoving for the double up is way +EV. You will almost always get a caller, usually Ax or any pp.

Aren't "weird and awful play" and "$2 sit-n-go" redundant phrases?
  9. #9
Yeah, on reflection I think Doan is right, just shove over preflop and be done with it. Definitely don't fold though.
