Default J9 flops two pair on scary board ($27)

Opp's stats 31/0 over 1.0. He had previously check/called a flopped set and bet tiny on the river to beat my TT overpair. What's your turn line? Do you bet the river?

The turn card turns your hand into a small pot one, and so checking behind is absolutely right.

Given that I'd hate to be check-raised on this river I check it behind. 2 pair has showdown value but is still the 173rd nuts on this board

I guess you could throw out a value bet against this guy. Check behind is fine. What does he call with that you beat?

This is one of those situations where it would suck to be check-raised when I have showdown value so I check behind.

sounds like it's easy value and you can safely fold to a raise.

Any bet here commits the rest of your chips, and I can't see him calling with much that you beat. I would check behind.

485 back and pot is 390.

How much exactly can he afford to bet without committing himself?

I'd bet 100, I wouldn't call it a mistake to be a little more or a little less but checking is awful when we have the best hand 90% of the time and when villain is never folding to a 1/5 pot bet.

Stop living in mortal fear of the nuts. You're getting check-raised on this river pretty much never.

    Not even close.

If you bet the pot then sure, if you min-bet you're getting called by any pair, so choose some amount in between.

Yes, very interesting comments mcatdog. I think this is the area I struggle most, getting that little bit of extra value from hands.
