Never seen the chip leader before, but he didn't strike me as a huge donk. I don't think he totally understands bubble concepts though. The fact that he raised instead of shoving is making me think I might actually have fold equity here. I know I have the best hand and I might have fold equity, should I be a wuss and fold?

I think both calling and shoving are fine, folding is by far the worst option. I think safest route is to call and check/fold if you miss and bet if you hit

Last point is important.

If you do hit, it's not a time to check down. The 1500 side pot is too valuable to leave.

Ya, I was going to say that I would flat call and then prepare to get the rest of my stack in if an A or K flops. With an A or K on the flop I'm prepared to commit the rest of my stack because the chance that shorty has us beat (meaning that we will finish 4th if we lose to big stack) goes down considerably in that case.
