    Default Live Play, KQs shortstacked

$50+15, $25 bounty also. Blinds at 100/200, only maybe one or two orbits into the tournament. (Hated the structure, but wanted to play regardless... I kinda regret it! $90 wasted. :P )

Villain has gone all-in like 4 times already, so either he's Ax all-in or getting some serious cards.

I'm EP, he's MP. Nit @ MP+2 so I know he'll fold, and most everyone's been playing pretty tight.

I've got 1200 chips from original 3000, so my M=4, and I get KhQh.

Raise 3x to 600 chips (lame, should've just shoved)
    Villain raises all-in.
Folds around to me, KQs vs rather aggressive (but maybe tight? he hadn't showed anything down, but he has shown TT when everyone folds to his all-ins. He's shoved a couple times over medium raises, so his range imo is a bit wider.)

I called of course as played. He turns over ATo, I catch my 4-flush on the flop, air on turn and river, and bust out 37th/40. -$90

    Thoughts?

You're right about shoving instead of raising half your stack.

As played you have over 3 to 1 to call so you gotta
This is not my signature. I just write this at the bottom of every post.

Assuming I didn't make the donk move of throwing half my stack in, think it's reasonable to make a stand w/these cards or wait a bit longer to try and get a PP or Ace? This was only the second tourney I'd played at the place, and didn't realize last time just how fast the blinds were going up. They started at 25/50 with 3000 stacks (2500 if you didn't take the add-on), so my M from hand 1 was a lot lower than the tournaments I'm used to online.

I lost one pot and was pretty devastated stack-wise, and as I was adjusting to the situation, I get dealt this marginal hand. I'm really disappointed in the play overall. :P Oh well.. experience is invaluable they say.

This is a very basic hand and while you're probably fine in a live 50 FO you should not play that high online. You use the term M which confuses me because if you've read HOH 1/2 it's hard to imagine you could not figure this out. For sure you should read them again.

Yeah, I've read a few books. About to buy HOHv2 I think. So I'm getting theory down, and trying to increase my experience. I am playing like 90% online, 10% live w/friends and stuff, and once a month or so I go to the local place to get some live play with strangers.

And yea, no plans on going to online tournaments at this buy-in level. They don't get much cheaper live though. My poker bankroll is reserved for online play, and live play comes out of my paycheck... which is why I'm playing less often.

I think I'm actually gonna avoid the live expensive games for a while... it's a lot less brutal to make a crap move in a $5 tournament. I agonize over this play, actually. At least a shove would've been reasonable. :P

HOH2 will help a lot in these spots.

You're shoving at least the top 15% here, probably more at a tight table:

    22+,A7s+,K9s+,QTs+,JTs,ATo+,KTo+,QJo

    KQs is top 5%.

True, thanks for both solidifying my decision to buy HOH2 and confirming that while I played it bad, I had the right intentions. There really is a disconnect between moving the slider online and throwing all the chips in live.
