    Default Trimmed SNG for review

I've recently returned to playing SNG's after playing cash for a while, and this time it's turbos. I'm taking poker even more serious this year and hope to do well.

If someone would kindly take the time to review my tournament, it would be very much appreciated. I've never had one reviewed, and thought it about time.

(Note:The table was generally looser at first, but when we got down to 5 handed the table tightened up, and became mostly passive when we reached 4 players. I'm rarely the bigstack at the table, could I have used my position as chip leader better?)

The Tournament Trimmer (v1.1.4w) was developed by JeffreyGB at http://www.FlopTurnRiver.com.

gonna review this from work where I don't have wiz or stove, so if I get anything wrong I'll post a correction tonight.

Hand 2. Meh. 5bet all in with JJ is fine at the $3.40s and maybe even in th $6.50s. Your raise commits you to call a shove I think and hence after the cold caller I shove over or flat.

Hand 3: Don't minbet, bet more

Hand 4 kk. You raise a little too much for me, but if it's gonna get called at that level then ok. I might vbet the river as he's obv just trying to showdown after the turn check.

Hand 6. A2o in blinds. I think we cbet this board. Checking looks very weak.

Hand 9 KJo in BB. Raise to 300 preflop

Hand 10. I think minraising is dangerous. Make it 500

    Hand 14 55. Don't get massive overbet

Hand 18: shove preflop. (Would have made no differrence)

    5Diamond 7Diamond SB (M = 15.02; F) raise to 900

Hand 19, no free flops, raise to 1000

Hand 20. I raise about 900-1000. No need to raise more

    Hand 21 shove preflop

3Heart KClub SB (M = 16.33; F) Shove probably (would need stacks), raise if not
This is not my signature. I just write this at the bottom of every post.

I see Ginger has done this already, but since I did this review on my flight home I'm not going to be denied.

    2. JJ - rather than 3-betting to 500, with the dead chips of the cold caller in the pot I swallow hard and shove over

    3. 88 - what is the point of your turn donkminbet? With 135 chips in the pot do you think any of them will fold? If you want to bet, make a real bet of 80 or so. That said, although I don't hate betting, I would probably check here; you will not fold out Tx or higher pocket pairs on this board.

    K 5 SB (M = 65.11; f+c+c+c+c+c+f+F) (between 3 and 4) - complete the SB, you're getting like 1 million to 1 preflop pot odds

    4. KK - perfect; do NOT bet this flop! I would call relatively small bets however.

    5. AA - WTF?!?!??! $3.40s I guess.

    6. A2o - don't donkminraise (since you seem to do this a bit, "DDMR"). In fact, with your stack I just put opp all in.

    8. 55 - with the limper in front, I probably just fold preflop. If your raise is called, there are not very many flops that you will like. After you raise, I think the c-bet is fine on that board however.

    3 A BU (M = 32.82; f+f+F) (between 8 and 9) - raise for sure

    9. KJo - make it 600 to go preflop. Opp won't call you loose.

    10. A8o - DDMR.

    7 A UTG (M = 19.54; F) (between 12 and 13) - I would probably raise this one with your stack

    T J BU (M = 22.44; F) (between 14 and 15)
    J 9 SB (M = 21.77; f+F) - raise both of these

    17. K9o - good, I really like this

    18. 86o - just shove it if you want to play (I could either shove or fold). No point giving opp the chance to shove over when he's so short then having to make a crying call because of pot odds.

    19. 93o - the way you played it is OK, I could also see betting the flop for 600 to end it now

    20. JTo - I just shove preflop

    3 K SB (M = 16.33; F) (between 21 and 22) - shove for sure

Thank you guys for taking the time to review.

2.JJ, I didn't like having to call a shove this hand...So next time time I'm in this situation I'll do so.

3.Agreed, the bet size was silly of me

(5.I was happy but I was still surprised to see this. Perhaps they heard my cheer for a call?)

6,Yes, I do the donkminraise often. In other SNG's it worked, but now it's not always effective and has just become a bad habit. So DDMR for now on.

8.Agreed. I feel I made the best out of it, but I that doesn't change the fact that I played it wrong to begin with.

    8 1/2 I didn't like such a weak ace but I understand.

    9. You both agree I should have raised here.

10 I see, I should raise more here. This probably made me seem uncommited and weak.

    Ginger
14 - I felt that between the blinds&antes the odds may be good with a 600 raise, and position postflop might give him good reason to call. I just wanted his blind was all. But it might have been a bit much. In your opinion, how much would be best here?

    Taipan
12 1/2 A7o UTG, We were at the bubble at this point. One of the stacks was looking very short and was going to be severely crippled after the blinds unless he doubled up. Should I still raise this considering the circumstances? And if so, should I call or fold a push?

18.This is a big mistake I'm often making in my game.

    19. Ginger, I don't know if he's going to respect my raise after the last hand, I felt I would let this one go to increase his "trust" in me. Is this an okay way of thinking?
But yeah, I felt like I should have bet the flop, but I lacked the confidence to do so, which isn't a good reason.

20.You both differ on what you would do. I am thinking I should go with Taipan here and shove preflop?

Thanks again, you have given me a lot to think about. I have some other games to review for myself and I will keep all your advice in mind while checking these over.

Well ginger and taipan are the real experts but I'll add some thoughts:

Hand 4: I think after it checks twice we can throw some kind of small value bet out there. If I'm IP, it clearly looks like you don't like the board and I probably semibluff a flush draw if I have it. I would bet $200 and get called by a lot worse often.

Hand 6: Meh spot all around, I'd raise more preflop.

Hand 8: A8o is a pretty easy shove into the BB, esp. given stack sizes
Playing big pots at small stakes.

I bet 500 and don't care if I get calls. Try to remember that with your stack they're afraid of you

No not really. Who gives a s**t if he trusts you or respects your raises? When you push people around it widens their calling ranges sure. However your opponent aint gonna limp call for 600 more HU without a decent holding, but he might limp because he's heard you should never fold getting 3-1. I raise always in this spot when chip leader. If you were the small blind I would have folded.

20.You both differ on what you would do. I am thinking I should go with Taipan here and shove preflop?

We have different games. I prefer to hold shoving until around 10BBs, and raise this to 900. If opp is shoving over plenty then he gets my stack in his face. I used to lose a lot of HU shoving too many BBs when a raise was enough. You should go with what you feel comfortable with.

Thanks again, you have given me a lot to think about. I have some other games to review for myself and I will keep all your advice in mind while checking these over.
