Default Checking down when calling a short stacked all in-

When playing in tournament poker there will frequently be a situation when a short stack goes all-in and sees two or more callers. A standard practice here is for the players who called the all-in to check the hand down in order to increase their chances of eliminating the all-in player. However, checking the hand down may not always be the smart move. The strategy of checking the hand down has one huge weakness: it depends on the cooperation of the other player. If the other player does not cooperate, you can find yourself folding your hand to a strong bet, only to see the all-in player win the pot with a hand you could’ve beaten had you stayed in.
How do you react to a bet in that situation. Assuming your chip stack and the bettors chip stack is equivelant and he is a TAG

This is the prisoners dilema. You both loose unless you co operate, of course even then one or both of you will loose. The winners are of course the other people sitting out. Nothing better than being a medium stack watching the big stakes but heads and hurt each other.
Your goal is to win chips not elimate people, Why get involved with a substandard hand against a TAG? Enough difficult decisions will come your way you dont need this one.

My guess is someone bet with garbage and you folded a pair. In this case, because someone else was all-in, you got to see his cards. Usually, players aren't forced to show their bluffs or raises with weak holdings. You only feel so bad about it, because you got to see it.

If you think you have the best hand but it's vulnerable then why would you ever want to check it down?

If you are ahead of the small stacks preflop range, yet behind the 2nd caller's rage, and you gauage that the 2nd caller has missed the flop and will not call, it is best to push him out even if there is no side pot.
