Default how long till you switch seats ? AT LOCAL B&M I ment sor

If you are at a table playing a very loose table & catching NOTHING . How long would you wait till U change seats OR do you change at all ?

Sorry I was talking about our local B&M casino here in south Louisiana

I tend to move to my lucky seat number 5 f I am not catching cards for a while, as soon as that seat becomes available I will move.

Or I sometimes will leave a table full of fish when I am not catching cards even if the fish have lots of money because it is clearly not my day.

wait do you actually berate people? I recently started trying to table select much better, and one of the things I've done a couple of times is switch seats on a table that has gone short-handed to maximise EV. I recently found out leatherass has been berated for doing this and tha it's borderline unethical... Thread hijack (but the original thread was lame anyway.) Thoughts?

Who cares? If switching seats increases your moneyflow, that's all that matters.

Is there a way to switch seats without taking money off the table (if your stack exceeds 100 big blinds)? If not, I can see how seat switching would be considered unethical because you're taking chips off the table then returning to the game.

There is no way to switch seats AND taking money off the table. You have to buy-in for the same amount if you come back within 30 min. or so. Live and online.

I play lots of short handed FR tables and if someone joins who I'd rather be on the left to when the table fills up, I reseat.

Levans, in case you're not joking - nobody does that. By what magical mechanics would you expect that to work?

I think @ most live casino poker rooms, you're allowed to put in a request for a seat change. That is not the same thing as leaving the table or taking cash off the table. It simply means you are moving seats at the same table. The last time I was @ a casino, a player requested a seat change and that person was given a button to indicate he had done that. I assume that means there's only a certain number of times you can do it or maybe a limited time before you can do it again. Online I haven't seen an option to change seats.

Anyway, I wouldn't want to change seats until or unless there was an aggressive player to my left. I would be more apt to want to change if the aggressive player was also loose. As a second priority, I would prefer that players with large stack sizes be seated to my right so I have a positional advantage over them.

In a casino I would wait for a dealer change so you don't hold up the game. And the only reason is to move to a better position or move away from the dealer if you want to smoke.
Obviously not because you expect your luck to change. Squeeze your card protector harder or something for that

rofl @ being card dead being a reason to change seats... was that a joke?

I change seats if I can get position on a donator and/or put tight/passive/short opponents to my left.

mathematically, changing seats has no impact, BUT... changing seats may in fact help emotionally and psychologically a player who is in a bad card rut. This emotional band aid may, in fact, be much more important than any mathematical strategy you can throw in. More money is lost on tilt than at any other time. If a change of scenery can prevent tilt than by all means, move. Look at it like this.... changing seats can't hurt you, can it?

Ok, gonna kinda hijack this thread a lil, but what is everyones favorite position at a 9 or 10 person nl live game? I'm a fan of seat 6 or 7 but I'm just curious if anyone else has any particular seat they like to sit in. It can be for any reason really.

I like seat 6 or 7 cuz It's kinda on the curve of the table so I can get a clear view of everyone at the table. I HATE seats 9 (or 10) and 1 just for the simple fact that the dealer is sitting between you and the guy in the opposite seat, so I can never tell if that mofo bet or checked, is grinning when hes bluffing (joke obv), etc.

    Personal preferences FTW

I have found that changing seats can help me if I feel like I'm about to tilt. Preferably to another table, but at the same table is fine too. Sometimes getting another vantage point can help clear my head.

I like to sit in seat 1 because I can look to my left very easily.... good for hijacking button.. also, I can hide (behind dealer) from seats to my immediate right (which is who I play most of my pots against).
