Default J5o flops top two in the BB against aggressive opp ($27)

Opp's stats were 27/15/11.0 up to this point. A couple of times (once against me, once against somebody else) he had made these slightly more than min raises in response to a perceived steal bet or raise. I knew he would do this which is why I minraised his flop bet (which I don't often do, but it was a very dry board).

Call his raise and let him bluff again on the turn or just drop the hammer right now?

Hero checks, Button bets t600, Hero raises to t1200, Button raises to t2000, Hero flat calls or shoves?

Well tai, I play at the lower levels, but my thinking would be that this is already a huge pot worth taking down. If he's got J with a good kicker, make him pay out the freaking nose to try and catch it. If he folds, you just took the lead anyways right?

Im not big on dancing around with hands like J5 or any "big blind special" for that matter.
Because this guy has been playing so aggressivly it makes you really unsure of what 2 cards he could have.
And because you're in the small blind if you flat call here then you're first to act on 4th street and there isnt much left to do but go all in, and now hes gotten to see another free card.
So before i got into to much trouble Id go all in on the flop, and take the chips that hes decide to give me, instead of letting him hitting some miracle cards and end up beating you somehow.
And i yelled to the cabby YO HOLMES SMELL YA LATER

With that kind of a read I think its a flat. Pot will be 8k on the turn and you'll have 3k, so its a super easy c/c on any turn. In my experience, once people make this play with a bluff they never shut down despite how obvious it is that you'll never fold after flatting flop

well from my experience with players at a higher level or high stake, if you call flat on the flop there, they're going to know that you have a good hand. and that now they're getting sucked in. so instead of flat calling and letting them see another free card, i would shove on the flop.

I like this problem. Well, keeping in mind the goal is to win the tourney now that we are heads up . . . I still shove and take it down now, for reasons stated above. You can outplay this guy the rest of the session, and taking it down now gives you the chip lead and makes him pay for more cards, right?

On the other hand, this is a pretty safe flop. If you were ever to give a free card, this board qualifies. Nice problem!

Please tell us you took 1st in the tourney!

Me being the nit I am, playing my $10+1 STTs, I probably shove 80% of the time and smooth-call 20%. I don't like giving free cards when I have the best hand.

also don't play these stakes but i flat... board is super dry i try and get it all in on this hand i think calling is the best way to do it... i also don't like giving free cards, but in this hand heads up, if your ahead already he's drawing very slim, i give him a chance to give you his chips. + blinds are fairly high and these chances heads up don't come along tons i try getting max value even if i risk letting him catch

What hands would a shove be good against?

AA, KK ,QQ , AJ ,KJ ,J3 , 53. If this move has been seen before, then those hands should be in his range and good for a shove.

Trying to think what folds to a shove and apart from the odd gutshot or maybe JT, QJ,5x,3x if he can let them go, I'm stumped. Shove looks best

Tai it would also help if you told us what he had after he made these moves. Did he give up, show down something good, fire again...? I'm assuming he gave up, because if he showed a good hand down or bet again this is a pretty basic shove.

Ginger, those are hands that would call a shove, but:

    A) he didn't raise pre so doesn't have the big pairs AJ/KJ much at all

    B) we get the money in vs all those hands anyway so there is no reason to worry about maximizing vs them.

maybe 64? or 24? if hes reraising with the open-ender and if you flat call now its giving him a chance to catch. so an all in would probably push him off because he still would have 4000+ chips left which is enough to compete heads up with those blind levels.

A). Don't you think lots of players limp big pairs and good hands HU pre?

well, you certainly aren't getting away from this so the question is whether you get it in here or on a later street. You have already c/r'd the flop which should scream big hand to any decent player; therefore we know he has either a big hand or air. If you think he will double barrell air on the turn then flat here and get the rest in on the turn or river. If not, just shove over here.

    Btw, howzitbeendude?
