$5.50 9 player on Stars for review

[Kijjo]

Alright, so I've been on a downswing. A long downswing that's getting to me. It's not that I've lost continually, but February has been my worst month ever so far, no just in $ lost, but in amount of games/hands lost.
So when I sat down tonight to play this particular game, I swore I'd post it for review. I hoped that that would be extra incentive to play my best game. I was okay with how I played, though I would change a couple things if I could (ofcourse we always would right?).
So, let me know what you think.
PS - There is one hand that really hurt the most, I'm going to post a note about it at the bottom because I may lose some of the thought process before I check back to this thread.

Ok, so big mistake was Hand 13. I really felt like this guy was a solid player. He had played several good hands AA, AK twice, pockets 4's that made a set, etc, he had played these all well. What I failed to notice was that he was passive (looking back at the AK hand he was passive, 4's he slowplayed hard). On the river I hit the time button and actually thought to myself - he's got two pair, a set or a Q, but no way AQ - he would've raised pre. If he's got a Q, we'll chop, that's fine. He's not short-stacked, but is the shortest at the table, surely he'd want a bigger pot if he had AQ, CALL, CRAP!
Ah well.

I'm no expert, but just a thought, between hands 19 & 20 - both small blinds that you folded, the action was folded to you, maybe should have pushed on both occasions, just trying to steel chips, you only had an M of between 7&8 and other shortish stack to your left. So good chance of getting away with it, and would of put more pressure on 2nd shortest stack to act irrationally in other hands.

As for the Q in hand 13, I would have done the same. And I would of been gutted when my AA on the BB saw the action folded to me.

Also, I've had an awful downswing this month - from approx £130 br to £12. Mostly playing 10 man 2.50 + .40 & 5 +.50.

Suxks ass. But guess it's all swings and roundabouts.

I haven't played a SNG in a while, but will throw out my thoughts anyway.

Hand 3 - C-bet this flop. this board hits a big part of your range and you can shut down if called or raised.

Hand 5 - This is almost the opposite of Hand 3 in that with this one you are OOP and it is unlikely that this flop hit your hand so you are probably going to get floated or c/r'd alot. I would have not C-bet this one on the flop, but may have led the turn in certain situations.

Hand 8 - Your flip skills are pretty good

Hand 11 - In most situations this should be a raise as you don't want to play KQo OOP against a couple of limpers. With that said I could see how gameflow situations may have led you to check here. First, you had played 33% of the last 20 hands so the chance that you get played back against here goes up pretty good.

Secondly, you know the Btn has already shown that he calls wide and has shown to be aggressive when in position so if you do flop something here your hand could be disguised and you could end up stacking him.

Hand 13 - I would have not bet this turn as it is unlikely that the 2 changed anything in either of villains hands. I also hope you made a note that rector12 limps big hands from EP.

Q9s - Between Hands 16 and 17 - I would have raised this in a 4 handed game, even UTG.

AA - Between Hands 18 and 19 - Played perfectly imo


All in all I think you played this pretty well.

Q9s - Yeah, that's right on the line for me, felt like I was raising so much I was probably going to get a call and didn't want it to be with that one in particular. QTs I think I do.

Also Dan, I agree I might've been able to get away with stealing those too - maybe should've tried. I was cautious with that guy on my left. He played ubertight early on and super aggressive. I really felt like he was the biggest threat to me at the table and hated that he'd have position on me the whole game. I figured he'd pop me back if I kept stealing a bunch.

PS - after losing this one I went back and played 2 $3 games and finally felt like I was getting my game back on track. Only finished 2nd and 3rd, but I thought I played well and at least came away with a +$.

if you have SNGPT run the SB hands between 19 and 20 through that and it will give you a good feel for the types of hands you can profitably shove with.
