Default Another $3.40 10-man SNG Turbo for review

Here's another one I played today. I tried to be a bit more aggressive than in the past and of course early on I got some pretty good cards and won some flips. Late, I didn't get a lot of cards to work on, but I still tried to be aggressive, especially very late when I got down to my last few chips.

The last hand, well what are you going to do there? I can't change that hand.

The Tournament Trimmer (v1.1.4w) was developed by JeffreyGB at http://www.FlopTurnRiver.com.

Seemed like you played very aggresively, tough beat in the last hand. I need some more time to go over all the hands, but whats up with hand 12? Did you expect a fold? That seems like a bad spot to shove
  3. #3
    2. AQo - no need to raise so much. 80 is plenty here.

    3. QQ - ditto. I'd make it 100 to go.

    4. 88 - I fold to the raise the first time around, you don't really have implied odds to play for set value (since you can only win ~10x the chips you need to call). As played, I don't hate your flop shove over but it's pretty ballsy considering the K on the flop. In a game I would probably just let this go on the flop, but maybe that's wrong.

    5. A3o - I just check it down on the river, particularly against four opps

    7. KK - make it 200 to go preflop, you want to build the pot with a big hand

    9. Q7o - 150 is enough of a raise here

    10. ATo - with your stack I'd raise it preflop if I wanted to play, 500 to go. As played, just let it go on the flop, no point bleeding off all those chips chasing a gutshot. Fold the turn for the same reasons.

    12. 63o - shove preflop if you want to play. Any time it's SB vs BB and my stack or my opp's stack is <10x BB, I just shove it (and you'd be surprised how wide you can shove here if opp isn't a total maniac calltard).

    13. KQo - fold preflop. If you were in the BB or SB obviously call, but the key point here is that there are too many players still to act so if anybody shoves over you have to let it go. Reshoving would be better here but I doubt that would be +EV.

Q J UTG (M = 2.26; F) (between 13 and 14) - shove this, you're desperately short and have to make a move, you're losing a lot of your stack with the BB next hand

    5 3 SB (M = 1.73; f+f+F) (between 14 and 15) - shove this, you're desperately short

5 Q SB (M = 4.22; f+f+F) (between 16 and 17) - normally I would advise you to shove this, but if I'm reading the stack sizes right the BB is the big stack here and there's a short stack around, so fold is OK I guess

    17. KQo - perfect

    19. K7s - shove back preflop, this hand is more than good enough to shove back with

I did expect a fold there. I was using the threat of me being able to knock him out. I mean, I actually did have the best hand, he called with bottom pair and rivered me or he would have been done.

I agree with Taipan that I should have just gone all-in on him pre-flop. He might have been hard pressed to call. My question though is this, doesn't going all-in there look like an obvious steal? I always have problems with BvB because I don't want the BB to just get free chips even if I have a crap hand, but then again 6-3 is a crap hand that I should be folding 99.9% of the time.

I was hoping that with the call in front, I'd get him to call or re-raise. But I think you're right. I want to keep that guy around, although he's got to pay a little more to see a flop.

    4. 88 - I fold to the raise the first time around, you don't really have implied odds to play for set value (since you can only win ~10x the chips you need to call). I think you misread that one. There was no K on the flop. High card was 9 and I didn't think he had one there. Although in my haste to be aggressive I did overlook the flush draw. I don't think it would have changed my decision though. I would have wanted him to pay the max to draw out on me there.

I agree that to play the 88s for set value was a mistake there.

    5. A3o - I just check it down on the river, particularly against four opps
You're right, I thought I might be able to do a weak bet as a Post Oak Bluff. Too many people for that. Probably wrong level too.

    7. KK - make it 200 to go preflop, you want to build the pot with a big hand
Another silly mistake. My thought there was if anyone called, I could probably put them on an Ace. If no Ace came on the flop, I could be more agressive. Got to stop being afraid to get my Kings cracked there.

    9. Q7o - 150 is enough of a raise here

    10. ATo - with your stack I'd raise it preflop if I wanted to play, 500 to go. As played, just let it go on the flop, no point bleeding off all those chips chasing a gutshot. Fold the turn for the same reasons.
Sometimes I just don't know what I am thinking other than if I hit my K, that guy is going broke. It's me that's going broke being stupid.

    12. 63o - shove preflop if you want to play. Any time it's SB vs BB and my stack or my opp's stack is <10x BB, I just shove it (and you'd be surprised how wide you can shove here if opp isn't a total maniac calltard).

Ah yes, I did misread the board, lesson to me not to review whilst playing! As you played preflop, postflop is obv fine then (I would still have folded to the raise preflop)

Yep, forget about post oak bluffs unless you know you're playing against one good player.
