Default Do i overplay my AK?

I'm OK at poker, i cash like 14% of the time and win like 3% of the time, all i ever play are SnGs and MTTs, but recently i've been questioning alot of tactics in my own game.

I have read almost all the forums on MTTs and have learned alot from this site, and try to post on other peoples situations as much as i can and see what other people are constantly thinking. BUT somethings just not right with my game and i need help.

    My problems consist of...
    1) going all in with the best hand after the flop, only to get sucked out on from draws.
    2) over playing my hands when i get AA,KK,QQ,AK (i almost NEVER fold, any of these until the river)
    3) bad bankroll management

For example if i get dealt AKo in 5th position or w/e and the tournament has just started so everyone has roughly 3,000 chips. the guy behind me raises from 30 to 120, i'll re-raise here to 400 or so to let him know im not messing around. Everyone else folds and he just calls. (now 99% of the time this means he doesnt have AA,KK,QQ.) but alot more likely for hands like AK,AQ,AJ,A10,22+ or so pending on how bad he is.
the flop hits Q J 7 rainbow and he checks.
would you C-bet here? because i almost always do.
so ill throw out a bet around 475-600
He flat calls. hmmmmmmm not really sure what hes got....did he call with QJ? 910? K10? AQ? (wouldnt he raise here?) not really sure at all.
    the turn hits another Q.
    he checks.
well now im very confused as to where im @ in this hand, sometimes ill bet again here if i have stats on that player and i think i can steal still, otherwise ill usually check.
now the river hits an A
    he immediatly goes all in
theres no flush possibilites but could he have K10? or AQ?

idk, it seems whenever i reraise my AK preflop and then dont hit my A or K then im screwed, and when i do hit my A or K on the flop they end up folding almost everytime anyway. Is it worth re-raising with AK preflop? i mean i dont want a bunch of people limping either. should i not C-bet when i dont hit the floP? he'll just end up stealing it on the turn though. AK has been getting me in alot of trouble lately thats all. hope someone can help, thanks.

AK i almost NEVER fold until the river
    huh?

With 100BB stacks consider flat calling. I never used to do it much but in Rizen's book all three guys do so a lot in these spots.

#1 is not a problem...its the result of getting your money in good the vast majority of the time

    in response to your example:

I often wont cbet that board, too coordinated. The turn is a disaster card to barrel...anything calling flop will call the turn. I'd fold that river pretty quickly taking into account this is a 3bet pot and villain should be afraid of AA/JJ/AQ/AK etc. You'll against AQ/JJ/QQ too much here

Default Re: Do i overplay my AK?

i'm missing something hes behind you then your in postion. i'm guessing hes in the blinds and you limped. either way try not to make the pot so big with a small hand. why are you shoving so many flops? i draw hits 1 in 3 times so dont go in every time. as the 3rd time you do this your out. make a 1/3 to 2/3 the pot bet to control the pot size and protect your hand. or even check the flop and see if the river completes a draw if so you can get away cheaply. if the turn is a blank then go ahead and bet. just because your ahead doesnt make it correct to jam the pot. early in a tourney i want to take less risks. yes AK is a good pre flop hand but only ace high after the flop. pre flop i open 3x the blinds and if reraised i may call. if i do reraise its 2.5x to 3x his raise so i make 300 here. whether or not i cbet would depend on the flop. if it got a str8 or flush draws i wouldnt cbet.(unless i got AK of spades and theres two spades giving me 2 overs and a flush draw). here you got money in a pot thats getting bigger. but you only got ace high. if he checks, check behind and take a free card. if you then decide to bet do it on the turn. other wise take another free card. you got a small hand keep the pot small as well. by betting on the turn instead of the flop you keep the pot size smaller.

oh and to answer your question would i cbet? no. here you got a chance at the nutz for free. i more than likely take the free card. then if its checked to me again i'll fire one out.

I dont think you should reraise with Ak in tourneys most of the time unless you have a bunch of joksters as your a still a coin flip with 22. I mean obviously there are times to be aggressive but I am doing better in tourneys these days by keeping pots small till I hit. Personally on all these rigged poker sites I think AA, KK, QQ and AK are my least profitable handsd, I think I got beat with those hands like 10 out of fifteen last nite on full tilt.
I would rather have a bottle in front of me then a frontal labotomy

lol. idk personally AK just get me in trouble alot, i mean unless you're catching the A or K but i feel like i just overplay it by shoving on the flop hoping to catch the turn or river if i havent hit yet.
its really hard for me to fold, same with AA KK QQ, im all in at somepoint in the hand everytime it seems.
