Default Is this just variance or am i making bad decisions

I got away from the game and from this forum for a while. Recently started back and went to Full Tilt. Anyway...I played for about 3 weeks and tripled my bank roll playing 90 person SNG. This last week, it has gone south. I keep getting my money in with the best hand and someone catching a card on the river. Here is a rough example.

I am in late position with JJ. There is one early limper who has more chips than me. Others fold to me. I raise 4 times big blind. Everyone folds but limper who calls. Flop is something like 3 9 3. He checks and i bet about 3/4 of the pot. He calls. Turn is 6, he pushes. I determine that he has paired the board with a decent kicker and is trying to bully me. I call and he shows Q9 off. First off i'm asking how in the hell he calls a 4BB raise with that had. Well you guessed it, he catchs a Q on the river to put me out.

Several times i have been eliminated with hands such as this. Is getting all your chips in with the best hand ever wrong?? Is this just variance or am i making mistakes. I know it's hard to judge with such little info but your thoughts are appreciated......

to be clear, you're asking if you should sometimes fold the best hand just in case it won't stand up?

I suppose that is one way to ask it.

The other way is, Is it ever wrong to get all your chips in before the river when your sure you have the best hand.
This may be two seperate issues??
Maybe i'm just venting a little.

Sounds like a vent that I use OFTEN. As long as you are getting it in good. You will be a winning player. This is all that we can ask as players. Get it in good and live with the results. GBM will allow you to get through the variance in the game and come out on the winning end when all is said and done. Keep on keeping on.

Careful what you wish for.....you just may get it!

good players usually get knocked out this way. u just have to keep getting the money in good and not let those things affect your decisions. i'm one who gets really pissed off... then after a couple minutes i'm over it.

for example... last night i go busto in 6 tourneys 1 after the other like this.... AQ vs QT, AJ vs A9, KJ vs KT, KK vs 88, KK vs 99, QQ vs A5soooted. all where all in pre flop except KK vs 99... 9 high flop. thats pretty ugly dude. however, i won another $4 180 in my last tourney of the night. stuff held up... and i got it in good.
guys he's just looking to complain about taking coolers/beats

he'll continue to be the type of poker player we all love, the one that isn't any good but thinks he is, and slowly donates to the regulars.

their is a thread for bad beats, perhaps this should be their.

Your complaint is that you only tripled your bank roll once ?
Or is it that your table has donkeys at it ?
Or maybe the fact that probability plays a part in poker?

Dont worry their is always tiddlywinks.

Yes, variance. You will experience some pretty nasty beats. But as long as fucking retards call raises with Q9o, you will win money at this game. Are these 90s turbos? If so, you will experience variance often. Just make sure that you are following decent BR management. 100 buy-ins might not be enough. I play the 180s on stars and go with 150-200 buy-in rule. I tend to do the same for the 45s.

it's ALWAYS a good thing when people play like dogshit and put their money in drawing to 5 outs.

don't make bad beat posts. this is just a bad way to focus your mental energy as it pertains to poker. focus on making the best plays possible, forget what happens after. i mean, the fact of the matter is you played the hand fine and got unlucky. it should have never been a post and you just should have moved on to the next hand.

Thanks for the advice and the encouragement. Like i said, i've been away from the game for a while so i just needed some assurance. I'm still working on reading all the new books that are available. It's just really hard to believe that people are willing to risk all their chips on 5 outs...Great forum and by the way HOPEFUL, 10 bucks says i can beat you in tiddlywinks!! LOL
    THANKS GUYS!

Don't question why, just be happy that they do. Oh, and don't berate them for doing so at the table. We don't want them to learn how to play.
