    Default Standard?

I'm not a fan of AT but I was low on chips and needed to make something happen. Opponent was tight. Is this standard? I was planning on shoving almost any flop, so should I have just open-shoved?

    behind you with an axe
I'd say shove pre. M that low, no point doing anything else. Wouldn't be trying stop n go with a stack thats only 2/3 of the pot once you're on the flop. If you were determined not to shove pre, then only raise 250, that way you are shoving a 500 pot with 750ish stack. Gives villain a bit more to think about.

If you're going to play, shove preflop. I haven't run this in SNG Wiz but my guess is that this is a marginal situation, Wiz probably leans towards a fold.

Agreed that if you are playing this you should shove. Btw, SNQwiz says this is a fold.

In the batter's box. Already 0-1 count....
Of course you shove pre-flop. However, you may get more chips with shoving post flop. Hope it worked out for ya.
Careful what you wish for.....you just may get it!

I guess the reason I didn't shove was because I was either dominated or I wasn't, and was going all-in either way (calling a re-raise, shoving any flop). If it's assumed that I'm going all-in either way, don't I want a caller? And if I want a caller, I should raise less in the hopes of getting one. I guess the danger there is getting two callers...not really sure if I'm way off here or what.

It's good to know that it should have been a fold, but can someone let me know if the above logic is...logical?

Why do you want a caller with a marginal hand? As mentioned, Wiz says 'fold' but I'd say if you're going to play this hand, it's a shove preflop. You're only on 10bb's and although you're risking tourney life to pick up 150chips, if you're going to play, you need to shove (it gives you another way of winning the hand). Also by shoving (because you're basically at or near shove/fold mode) you're setting it up for when you're shoving next on say a stronger holding, potentially appearing weak and perhaps getting called.

It isn't logical. If you raise less than AI preflop, get called and the flop comes KJx are you still going to shove the flop? This is the sort of situation where only hands that beat you call. Plus, if you shove preflop, you will often get called by hands that you beat (worse Ax, hands like KT-KQ, etc.), and if you're going to get called by 22-99 then you want to see all 5 cards without having to make any further decisions. Lastly, what if you get called by the blinds (as you did) meaning you're not first to act, and they shove a flop you've missed? You just burned 40% of your stack for nothing.

Ah, that makes sense. I'll remember to shove next time. Thanks for the help guys.
