    Default Soft Satellites?

Can we get a list of soft satellites to get into some of the worthwhile events? I realize this is a general question but it applies to everyone that is willing to share what has worked for them, which satellites, and to which tournaments. Thanks in advance.

    None of you play satellites?

I have a lot of thoughts on this I'll post after my session.

I reckon I have some ideas on what mcat will say, but I'll let him do the honors.

Satellites are how I got my bankroll started and I still think they're the best way to build a bankroll. With the variance in MTTs it's tough to play them exclusively unless you have a five figure bankroll, but you can easily play a bunch of satellites even with just a few hundred dollars.

The cheapest ones are the $2.20 satellites to the Sunday lottery. I think these run once an hour and if you're good you can probably have an ROI of close to 100% in them.

The next level up are Sunday million satellites. I recommend the double shootouts, and the hyper-turbo rebuys. Those rebuys have such a huge addon that you're automatically very +EV just by making to the addon period and taking the addon.

For more expensive stuff, anything involving an LAPT event is guaranteed to be really soft, but the EPT satellites are quite a bit tougher. The WSOP satellites haven't been opened yet on PokerStars but they're likely to be somewhere in between.

Thanks for the response Mcat. I had a bunch of questions still about what you wrote.

    1. I assume the Sunday lottery = Sunday 1/4 Million: $2.20 Satellites that run every hour?
    2. How did you build your bankroll via Satellites? Did you win and then cash the ticket or did you actually play in the events and place for $ and build that way? Just curious.
    3. If you win a satellite, register into the tournament, and then unregister, doesn't it give you $T to buyin to anything later but it isn't real cash right? I can use the $T to buy into any tournament or SnG as I please?
    4. Are the WSOP steps good satellites to play in? I heard they are good for at least grinding fpp's because of the structure but I'm not sure how soft they are. I do know that the step5-step6 is a grindfest for high stakes regulars.
    5. Should I play satellites with real cash or fpp? The fpp cost is high but since my vip status isn't high I don't see anything else to spend them on. What is the best use of my fpp's satellite wise?

I actually was just wondering about satellites b/c I'd like to play in some big money events but it sparked my interest when you said you actually built a roll from Satellites b/c I didn't think people did that.

Sorry, lot of questions but answer when you can please. Thanks!

    yes

Absolutely do not actually play in the events, just cash the tickets. I think you should have at least 50K before you play the Sunday tournaments on a regular basis.

That is correct, but if you're playing satellites you can keep re-investing the T$ so it shouldn't matter unless you need to cash out.

    4. Are the WSOP steps good satellites to play in? I heard they are good for at least grinding fpp's because of the structure but I'm not sure how soft they are. I do know that the step5-step6 is a grindfest for high stakes regulars.
The steps are by far the worst satellites to play in, due to how they feed low-stakes donkeys into the Step 5 and Step 6 where they lose their money to the regulars. For WSOP satellites, the 33R 3x turbos are the best and the $650 weekly super satellite is the next best, but I doubt you have the bankroll to mess around with WSOP satellites period (other than the qualifiers to the $650 which you should definitely consider playing).

    5. Should I play satellites with real cash or fpp? The fpp cost is high but since my vip status isn't high I don't see anything else to spend them on. What is the best use of my fpp's satellite wise?
Either one is fine. The best use of FPPs for you are probably the 210 FPP satellites that have 20 players and pay 6 seats to the Sunday lottery.

If you're playing poker to make money then don't play in the big money events unless you have a big enough bankroll to buy in directly. If you're just donking around for fun, then have fun!

I think the (9 man 2 seats)16.50 turbo to the nightly 70k and the (6max 1 seat) 2250 fpp turbo to the sunday mill are pretty soft.

where is this? 1 table and 2 seats guaranteed?? 16.5 x 9 is only 148.50. sunday wu is $215.
guys he's just looking to complain about taking coolers/beats

he'll continue to be the type of poker player we all love, the one that isn't any good but thinks he is, and slowly donates to the regulars.

What about that $5 rebuy to the Daily $80K?
The only satellites I've ever played on Stars are those $2mtt to the Sun.donkfest. Not being familiar with how the T$'s works on that site, I ended up playing in it a few times but actually wanted to unreg. and use the T$'s for something else. I wrote Stars support a couple of times & then replied telling me "no, you can only use that for the orig. tourney it was for but you can unreg. from it and then play it at a later date" (I guess they were both noobs because I'd heard you could unreg. & use T$'s).

Thanks for advice on the 210FPP sats., Up til' now I've just been buyin clothing with them (fwiw the hats suck, 'one size fits all' barely fits on my cat's head & has become his play toy).

    I've got a friend who plays mostly in the sats. on Fulltilt and has done really well in them (diff. story for me in them,... majority of players in them are really bad players - many who regularly play in higher buyin tourneys (higher than the sat. buyins anyways, ie. $20-$40) and are hugely losing players. You see ALOT of idiots on decent to large stacks playing in like 80% of the hands as bubble approaches, repeatedly doubling up the shortstacks and often times going out themselves (sat. tards). My results in them haven't been the greatest & when I do play them I find you really need to play your big hands fast & raise them up alot as there's usually a ton of loose calling donks, calling on really wide ranges (ie. any two-suited cards from any position). Alot of the sats. on Fulltilt payout 1 in 4 (ie. $6 >> $22; $14+1 >> $55; $50+5>>> $216. The tier sat. 18plyr. sng's are also fairly decent (ie. $8+.70 >> $26token, Top 5 get token, 6th = $14; $24+2 >>> $75token; $75 >> $216);
Lower buyin sats. to FTOPS & mini-FTOPS are donk infested as well.

In the Fulltilt lower buyin satellites (ie. $6 - $14) you will see ALOT of players who are regularly playing in many of them. There's a handful of them who are winning players and do decently in them but the majority are really bad players (badbeats run rampant). Oh yah... so to answer your question,.. there are a bunch of players who will mostly just play the satellites & are rarely playing the tourneys they win the T$'s for.

For a really cheap, super donkfest satellite, checkout the $3 satellite 9-plyr. Turbo sng to the MidnightMadness tournament. Top 2 win $11, 3rd - $5. You might find 1 or maybe 2 players on the table who know what they're doing, the rest are real bad. (I tried a handful once and cashed in 8 of 9. On another go at them though, I blanked 5 in a row, lol).

Awesome. Thanks for the advice. Keep them coming if you guys think of more. Right now I just play STT SnG's and the 45-mans on PokerStars for money but I'd like to have a day where I donk around in tournaments occasionally but I'm definitely going to satellite in. However, building a roll through satellites as well sounds just as nice.

hypothetically after you win your $T what do you play with them¿?

I don't see these? I swear I saw them last week when you posted this but I don't see them anywhere this week. Can someone confirm/deny me being blind? Thanks.

played my first 16 210FPP sats since moving back to stars. I won 7 and bubbled 2. They are brutal soft and it took me 5 to stop playing like a cash game player.

Anyone wanna take $77 T$ off my hands, I don't play tournements or should I hit up the DON's? Any other ideas?
