I think this is pretty close to a fold preflop, and I don't like folding AK preflop like, ever. I don't know what an unknown's 9xBB raising range is, but we probably don't have much fold equity.

As played, I don't know what you're waiting for, stick it in.

I'd just stick it in preflop, he'll have something dumb like AT often enough.

As played, is this even a serious question? Call of course.

I'm 4betting this PF and as played, I'm raising the flop. Turn? Yeah, i'm calling that...IMO, the only prob is you run into either KJ (played wrong PF) or JJ where a raise PF or on the flop may have gotten him to lay it down. If you're on JJ and you allowed him to get there, so be it, note him and move on.

I think his range on the turn is flopped sets (unlikely), JJ, AA, KT-KA, air and random TT or QQ that he turned into a bluff. We can beat a bluff and KQ/KT but everything else is has us dead or chopping. Do you guys think he is bluffing this turn often enough that getting it in is profitable?

I did not raise the flop b/c that doesn't achieve anything besides getting him to fold worse hands that are drawing to 2 outs (66-QQ). I mean yeah if he has a worse King we probably get it in on the flop if I raise, but we will do that on most turns as well, so why chase out the hands I beat. Why not try to get more value from those hands on the river after the turn goes check/check??

Your equity is probably even better than that. Mcat didn't include the QQ turned into a bluff and I also think you see the occasional retarded hand like AJ or AQ/AT double barreling after picking up a gutshot on the turn.

I knew that someone would come along and say shove it preflop, which is basically standard with AK OOP, but I think the 9x raise is often a big pair afraid of getting more than one caller and we're pretty deep to be flipping for such a small pot.

However, that's a lot better than calling off 20% of your stack OOP and then folding TPTK.
