You don't beat anything that he thinks is good besides maybe 66, but his line looks a lot like a busted draw/river bluff. B/F is probably a better line on the river, frankly checking the turn might be better than bluffing.

So I think this is a call, depending on your reads of villain.

The pot on the river is roughly 10k and you have 8k behind, so I don't see bet/fold as an option. I'd just shove the river given someone might call you hoping for a split with just AcXc and you can certainly get value from 22,33,66. Whatever you do, dont fold

Check/shove turn is a tempting line because some people will just bet their whole if you check there

My read was, as you say baudib, that he had a busted draw here, i figured that it was either that or something sick like a full house...

I called him on the river and he showed AA.
Must give it to him he played it really well...

I think the BTN played pretty badly (in most cases). The only real justification behind calling the flop and turn is if he expects you to triple barrel with air. Otherwise the turn or river will often bring an overcard to your PP's that you would stack off with on the flop. Because he called preflop his flop raising range would look a lot like a flush draw or some medium/small pair, so most people in your spot with 77+ are going to get the money in if someone raises flop
