3bet pot TPTK vs opp donk betting

player was 19/11 but in this particular session much looser and aggro, and they don't seem to fold to 3bets. opp also has huge aggression in general (>5)

I think in hind sight I'd prefer just calling this flop donk lead rather than raising. sure it's never terrible to stack off w TPTK in a 3bet pot but I'm looking at playing this the best I can if I'm in the same situation against this opp over a large sample.

basically if they have a hand on the flop its' a big draw or a set, A6/A7 i think is impossible. if they don't have a hand they'll fold to my raise but likely would give up after I call as well.

On this turn the only hand that really hit was 89ss and I'm not sure he'd just shove this. The hand is interesting because people rarely play this way.

I do see some opponent inexplicably ship turns when they've sucked out in 3bet pots, but it really makes absolutely no sense at all

but the main problem is your flop raise size is too small. if he calls 3bets wide he can have 89 here, flushdraws of course. vs people who don't call 3bets as wide ignore draws more, but vs. wider range opponent I play this flop very fast, raise to $80ish


If you got coolered, oh well. Next hand, we don't fold this one.

Think about what his reasons could be for leading at you, it's a pretty polar range, either something he's willing to stack off with or he is running a random bluff. It's likely he wants you to fold or raise, if you call, he is put in a crappy spot on the turn w/ no idea where he is at in the hand because you can be floating or you can be slowplaying a monster, or you can be calling w/ a draw.

Your range for raising here should be pretty polar also... meaning you are rarely winning a ton of money when you raise and get it in here, maybe you get it in vs 89 or I dunno, maybe AQ? not sure... but that's like best case scenario. Just call flop, call turn (I'd probably check behind turn if he checks since I think he wants to crai and never wants to c/c), then just call a river bet or bet myself if checked to.

A lot of people donk a draw in this spot because its not that likely you have an A, and they think you may fold (here or on turn, so betting to them is better than c/c, they want to take the initiative

i think i prefer flatting the flop as well. really most people dont play hands like this, and if i raise and get it in i'm rarely more than 60% to win in all honesty.

if he has nothing he's likely to give up on the turn anyway.
