Default Thoughts/Questions on restealing at small stakes

    So,

I want to ask about how you make resteals. I play small stakes mtt:s, now mostly $11 ones.

It's usually very easy to spot steals and the people who steal blinds here, and resteals have worked for me, but I've also been getting burned because they'll call the reraise/shove with crap.
So should I tighten my resteal range a lot here? I've been trying to make resteals by reads, not cards.

Here's an example hand: (SB had raised my BB at twice earlier when folded to, and I had a read that he was raising big with weak hands.

    Button (t141782)
    SB (t110968)
    Hero (BB) (t43592)

    Hero's M: 12.11

Preflop: Hero is BB with J, 7
6 folds, SB bets t8000, Hero bets 43592 (all-in), SB calls

    Turn: (t88084) K (2 players, 1 all-in)

    River: (t88084) Q (2 players, 1 all-in)

    Total pot: t88084

    Results:
SB had Q, 9 (one pair, Queens).
Hero had J, 7 (high card, King).
    Outcome: SB won t88084

Well the first thing you can learn is to not resteal with J high from people who raise 5x the BB because they usually aren't folding, even if they have nothing.

And obviously your cards matter, why wouldn't you rather resteal with a hand that has decent equity vs their calling range than with a hand that has little equity?

Villains range probably top 20%, to be a favourite you need KQs,A9s+,AJ+,99+. Not sure i would want to call off all my chips if i wasnt a favourite in this situation. If you no he isnt folding then why raise if you cant call the shove with good equity?

No no, I was trying to say that I was expecting him to fold, and was quite amazed that he called with such crap. Guess my read was wrong..

I tend to think its more effective when your shove actually puts the person all-in, or close to it. I also don't tend to resteal when someone raises 5x...as mcat says: they dont fold

i prefer to resteal from the sb against CO or button, thats something about sb-bb confrontations that make people totally nutso, with calls such as yours as a result

At these levels don't "expect" anyone to do anything. The reason you want to have a decent equity hand when re-stealing is because of the hand you posted. Expect people to call more often and prepare yourself accordingly ( I just contradicted myself lol)...Also and especially! When you are re-stealing with your stack/life on the line. Try to have SOME showdown value.
