    Default Some hands

Played my first few $4.40 180 man tourneys in awhile last night, and ran into some spots where I was lost.

Villain was tight preflop but opened it up when it was folded around to him. I only have around 40% equity against a calling range of 66+, AJo+, but should have some FE. Should I wait for a better spot to make a move?

I think this is probably spew. I'm not sure how much I should be relying on FE in these sorts of spots. Am I looking to have like 50% or greater equity against their calling range, or can it be somewhat less due to FE? (if so, how much less is too low? 45%?)

It was a good experience, but I'm starting to see how important it will be for me to understand shortstack play, since that's how things will be midway through the tournament most of the time.

    Thanks for any responses!

    1) good, I would need a really specific read not to shove

    2) good if he limps a lot, bad if he raises a lot or plays like 8/3.

    3) fold , you probably have zero FE vs a 4x EP raise with this stack. And it's easier than you think for someone to pick up a hand behind you which damages your equity.

re : or can it be somewhat less due to FE? (if so, how much less is too low? 45%?)

you can do the math. Put V on a raising range, then decide what he'll call with. If he folds 1/3 of his range, you win the current pot 1/3 of the time. then add that to your equity (or lack thereof) when he calls and you have the total EV of the play. Although again you should shade down a bit for the chance someone has JJ+, AK behind you.
