Default Somewhat lost $200NL 3bet pot.

    PKR No-Limit Hold'em, $2.00 BB (6 handed) - PKR Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    UTG ($200)
    MP ($198)
    Hero (CO) ($238)
    Button ($537.69)
    SB ($230.70)
    BB ($160)

Preflop: Hero is CO with Q, 9
1 fold, MP bets $7, Hero raises to $24, 3 folds, MP calls $24

    Flop: ($51) 6, A, 9 (2 players)
MP checks, Hero bets $38, MP calls $38

    Turn: ($127) A (2 players)
    MP checks, Hero?

No reads, although I know he's a multi tabling reg.

    Why wouldn't you check behind?

Well I guess we could bet to get value from underpairs if he called to setfarm.

IMO, you are toast either way here unless you want to try the 3barrel bluff. That 2nd Ace is going to guarantee a call from JJ-KK on the turn.
I prefer to 3bet smaller here, like $22 then bet 1/2 pot on flop. It allows you more manueverability later in the hand.
Playing live . . . thanks alot Bin Laden.

Do you ever think he's c/cing OOP with air or a pair less than nines? Basically the only hand you're even slightly ahead of is KcQc which is such a thin part of his range.

The only reason to keep firing is to try and blow him off of TT-KK. Though I would expect him to 4bet pre with most of those if he knows how light you 3b IP.

Also I 3b smaller, and fire flop smaller. I'm not even sure if I fire this flop TBH.

refer to article i just wrote, it talks about this same kind of stuff.

doesn't seem like you have any idea why you're 3betting preflop, nor why you are c-betting this flop, nor are you thinking how villain might react with whatever possible hands he could have. Take some more time to think about your 3betting game in general, it will help a ton.

Prefer flatting preflop if you're going to play, I'd rather be in position with a higer SPR with those sorts of hands, where you don't really want to be playing for stacks unless you have 2 pair+

As played, check back flop, try and use it as a bluffcatcher, if you're ahead he prob has 2/3 outs, giving a free card isn't the end of the world.

Now try to get to SD as cheaply as possible.

If he's a multi tabling reg, I am going to just think he is a decent player playing solid ABC poker. He called $24 Pre-flop and then calls your $38 c-bet after the flop hits. I think you are beat here, If he does not have the Ace, he prob. has a pocket pair higher then the 9's. The turn even gets worse for you at this point.

Is it really worth throwing the rest of your stack in at this point. I think the MP's Check on the turn is just to induce a monster wager from you.

So as far as the turn goes check it, and you have to fold to any wager the MP makes on the river. Even if you hit another 9 I would fold, If this guy is a reg multi table player I am for sure I would be putting him on an Ace at this point. I am not seeing this guy trying to chase a flush.

Also I have to say with no reads on this guy, I am not a huge fan of your pre-flop re-raise. You really could have just called $7 and folded if you missed. I can also make a good argument for folding this hand pre-flop to a $7 wager from someone u have little info on.

Just my thoughts, but whatever happened I hope it worked out for you. and you won the hand.

Results: I checked back the turn, river was an 8 which didn't make the flush. He bets out $50 into $127, I tank and call, one of the reasons being I wanted to see what he'd take this line with since I can envisage us playing a lot of hands together. He flips 67hh for 3rd pair on the flop. :/

I am glad you won the hand. You were willing to pay a lot for that information you got on the villain. But if you have to know, sometimes it can be worth it for future games. In this case it worked out in your favor, and you were getting just over 3-1 pot odds on your money to make the call on the river, so nh.

I guess my attempt at writing that article to circumvent the need to dissect this hand after it was determined that the mistake was made before the hand was played was written in vein as you guys are still trying to discuss the best way to play it : [

Makes me sad because I tried to take some time to do a good thing, but I guess also happy in a way since people never learn so I will always make money at poker I suppose.

Cheer up Marshall, your article was appreciated by a lot, I'm sure. It's always up to the people themselves to take the next steps, but you've done a good thing in showing the right direction.
