10bi downswong.

    Default 10bi downswong.

Yesterday i dropped 10 buy-ins. $50nl 6max pretty much all to bad beats/coolers, though I need to go over the hands. ie K-K cracked on 2 tables at same time (one of which I hit trips on flop, he runner-runnered a straight). K-K running into A-A. My A-A getting rivered by K-K etc etc etc ....

I'm still easily rolled for $50nl (31 buyins), but I'm considering playing $20nl (my site don't have $25nl) for a bit to get some confidence back and take the pressure off.

Is this a waste of time? Should I just shrug it off and play my level and only drop down when I get to 25 buy-ins?

Guess this is just a moan, but do any of you drop down for a bit when variance bites like a cockmonkey?

When you feel confident play big(er)
When you feel beat down, drop down in stakes

I'd drop down to get that winning feeling back. Poker is a confidence game and when you are downswinging its easy to think "I'm beaten - screw it shove".

What about changing sites and doing a quick bonus somewhere? From memory you are on betscare where the player pool is pretty small and grinding against the same three or four regs and two fish with $30 on all your tables can get old quickly (especially when losing!).

i'm going with Spenda. EZ game...

serious though, I think i'll drop down for a week or so.

May have a look at some other sites, but the hassle of withdrawing, then setting up again is putting me off.

Any sites you'd recommend Seasider? Soft Eurosites ideally, with a nice bonus.

Goto party poker imo. I deposited $250 there a couple of weeks ago and have turned it into 1400, in 2k hands. There's some crazy fish playing there.

I just dropped 10 buyins at 100nl and planned to move down to 50nl for a bit. I ended up playing some 200nl tables instead. Go figure.

    Definately a comfort thing.
Just dipping my toes back in.

I just did this after there was a thread in Online Poker Rooms forum re their new rewards scheme and saw they were also offering me a bonus for this month. Get in before the word gets out imo

I quit betfair for a bit on Sat after one beat and disconnect too many! The party software is much better (tables not popping up infront of one another while acting, HUD not strobing, seems to use less cpu resources and no disconnects yet). Also a much bigger player pool and far more tables to choose from from what i can see (played 25 and 50 so far) so you don't need to get into mindgames with the same few players. You can also play a S&G if you fancy without waiting 30 mins for it to fill.

I'll probably leave my last cake payment on betfair for drunken gambling with my mates but am happy with my jump so far (and i've run sets into quads twice so not influenced by results)...

I have dropped back to 50nl a couple times recently while still rolled for 100nl. And I've had a couple -10BI downswongs this year. The whole point is to play confident, profitable pokerz. If you're head is a bit messed up from bad beats, you're not gonna be playing your best. So a drop down CAN be a great idea, especially if you quickly regain that razor sharp game that got you up here to begin with.

    1) K-K < A-J after I flop a set, he runner runners me...
    2) K-K < Q-J all-in pre (fish) and he flops a straight
    3) A-A < K-K to another straight on river
    4) 2-2 < K-K afer I flop a set
    etc etc etc
    10) i'm about to stop for night. K-K......all-in pre. he has A-A. Thge final kick in the goolies.

still thats why we have a solid bankroll. I'm not busto. And tonight lady variance can swong back my way!

At what point do you just ditch pokerz for the day when you're runnin' ice cold? Just curious. I should probably stop at 4-5 BI in losses per day, since if I'm not tilty/spewy by then, I'm real close.

I guess I'm different than most players because I specifically do NOT drop stakes until I hit my stop loss because learning to play optimally through suboptimal conditions or results is a key skill I want to possess. To drop down to gain confidence is an admission that I do not have that skill or wish to attain it. This would be true if I wasn't playing well, but especially if I was playing well and mainly getting bad beats.

Now, I do have a daily stop loss of 5% of my bankroll where I won't continue playing for the day if I hit it, but I prefer not to drop stakes until I hit the 20 buy-in mark for the stake I'm at.

yo, I was a 6 ptBB/100 winner last month and I dropped 10 buyins the FIRST OF THE MONTH
then I proceeded to win back 2 later in the session and I'm in the green as of now and if I don't have another shitty day like that I'll probably have 4-5ptBB/100 by the end of the month as well

i hope i didn't break everything by telling everyone to go back to Party... I like that fishpond, and having it to myself would be nice.

lol, I had a week some time last year when my game just totally detoriated for some reason plus I was running super bad (<-- probably why right there). All these guys I had marked as bad tags (for when there's no real fish around) just kept coming to me. At first I thought this was great because I didn't have to table select.

Then I realized I was playing so bad that these tagfish viewed me as bad enough that I was someone worth chasing. It was a humbling realization to say the least.

I had my worst day in a while today with -6BI @100NL... it's easy. Let them have the top of their range every hand, miss some draws, AKs < J7, Q4, AA, AA, AA, AA, and there you go.
I do tilt, but I don't think much of todays loss was due to tilt.

    -10BI since yesterday.

I'm not going to take a break, but I will finally move some money over to titan, clear the bonus and get HEM omaha.
Will probably move down to 50NL, but just becaue I'm not going to deposit more than 1k and I want to be able to play 8-12 tables there.

Move up to a limit where you can recoup your losses with a single all-in blind steal.

    In one session, or overall?

My worst is 31 buy-ins over about 20K hands at 50NL.

But I sometimes tilt AND I suck at poker AND I was 16 buy-ins below EV on all-ins.

    In one session I don't think I've lost more than 5-6 buy-ins.

It was one session, the next one I lost 5 more and stayed away for a few days. I was pretty sure it wasn't tilt after after that harsh drop I had to step back and make sure.

There was a little bit of tilt play in the 20 bi total but it didn't really seem to account for more than 3. It's not like I was tilt shoved 72o or anything. Just simply had a lot of sets not hold up. A lot of coolers. And won no coin flips.

I'm still suffering from it actually. I'm almost at a 100k break even stretch. It has really made me respect variance!
