    Default Easy call?

    Hi,
This hand was extracted from a 0,5+0,1 SG. The situation is:
I was the shortstack of the table and have just won an all in bet from the villain. This hand was just after that and the guy was 43/8. The BB was folding a lot to raises (strict calling range).

I wonder if the call was right in terms of ICM. I need to work on my push/fold mode because I'm finishing a lot in 3rd place, so I'd appreciate any thoughts on that.

    No-Limit Hold'em, $300.00 BB (3 handed) - Hold'em Manager Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    BB ($7385)
    Button ($1485)
    Hero (SB) ($6130)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 4, 4
    Button bets $1485 (All-In), Hero calls $1335, 1 fold

VIllain has less than 5 big blinds so is probably right to be shoving ATC at this point. I'd call with any pp, any A or K, and any 2 broadway. You have him covered so its not like your torney is on the line.

If you flat call and the BB shoves over, what are you doing? Shove over if you want to play this.

I don't really mind the call...IF you think BB is the type to check down anything to help knock the shortstack out.

If you have a read that BB isn't like that or that he has the potential to 3bet wide (to isolate himself here) then a shove is better...

I would be absolutely SHOCKED if you had this sort of read on a SNG player at anything other than the nosebleed levels where you run into the same players over and over.

Tai is right on this. If you are playing the hand shove pre-flop.

The BB is getting nearly 3 - 1 on a call. You don't want 4 overcards (probably) against you with 5 cards still to come, so shove to isolate the short stack.

I considered an isolation play here, but I preferred just to call and fold if the BB shove over me. If he calls, my play would depend strongly on the flop cards but my main goal here is to eliminate the other guy and keep (for now) the second place. So, if he can beat this guy with his cards, thats fine for me. Its not that difficult to recover it in HU game.

Once I tried an isolation play such as this and was elimined by AA in a triple all in. I guess I became hesitant in doing that, but in terms of controlling my opponents odds is far better.

This is a leak, but I think you know that. Each decision should be made independently of past results.
