Default heading to the wsop. tips? strategies?

Hi there. I didn't know whether to post this here or on "live play". So its here.

I've become a relatively decent online 1-table SnG player, but I have no multi-table experience, and I just got a big opportunity:

I'm gonna play this weekend in the $1500 WSOP no limit holdem game.

I read some of the strategies in this forum, and they seem to be similar to 1 table SnG, except more drawn out. So my thinking is play tight, mindful of position, wait for most of the donks to bust out. Try to see cheap flops with good cards in position, but fold AJ suited against raises and calls pre-flop early on. stuff like that. Keep that up for 2 days and make the final table. Win, get 600K, and a bracelet to go with it.

And maybe do it having played a few hands with Negreanu, Mike the Mouth, Laak, or any other fun familiar faces. And maybe, if I'm very lucky, get yelled at by Phil Hellmuth...

Any more tips, any links to specific live huge tourney tactics?

    Thanks!

    you pretty much got it.

you start out with 4500 chips and blinds go up every hour. So you basically have 3 hours in which to nit it up. If you haven't doubled up by the 4th level (blinds 100/200) you are going to have to gamble. Once you do get that first double up, you can nit it up again if you like.

    thanks guys.

yeah, its very cool, but so much pressure.

I mean, what if on the first hand I'm dealt AA and some donk goes all in? can I not call? And if I get my aces broken, I'll be the first guy out. Aaah. I just hope I'm not dealt anything in the beginning...

    lol

Are you joking? fold AA pre? Chardrian mentioned nitting then doubling up, QQ+ and AK are in the 'double up' range surely.

hella yeah... I'm gonna bet those aces.
its just the pre-game jitters. Once the game starts, I'll be terrorizing as much as the next guy.

that's great ! sounds like a solid mtt strategy, make sure you sleep well and are totally focused, keep your eyes wide open at all times.

if i were you i'd play a shitload of MTTs online right now, just to practise as you mentioned you're only familiar with STT.

    good luck !

busted out on the 1st day.

But it was fun.. I took out a guy, went all in and won, joked around... lost most of my chips with top pair top kicker against a set of 3, and then busted out with AK against 44 that became a set.

Either way man, congrats- just being there is an accomplishment.
Did you end up getting to see any of the big guys while you were there?

not on that game, but my friend played PLO the next day, sitting next to John Juanda, with Hellmuth at the next table. He showed me pics. Later at dinner, we saw Seidel who was eliminated a few hours before. My friend was eliminated a few hours later.

Tonight at the bellagio poker room we saw Johnny Chen.

    All in all, pretty cool.
