C-Bet question

    Default C-Bet question

I have noticed that since moving up in the SnG stakes, my C-bets are getting reraised quite a lot. example I have AJ on the button, one limper to me and I raise 3x preflop. Flop is Q92 or 963 or some rainbow type. It is checked to me and i make a 2/3 to 3/4 size cbet and the limper reraises. It seems to happen more with a TAG type player.
1)Is this a move or does he have a hand like a set or overpair?
2)If it is a move i should be using, what are the best circumstances to do so.

Maybe in the situation you describe, just limp and play carefully if you hit an A or J on the flop?

Read dependent. That said, does it really matter, at this stage there aren't many hands you beat that would play like this, there isn't much alternative to folding

When you've seen players regularly raise preflop, c-bet the flop when checked to but give up to any raise after that?

maybe you are cbeting too much if you are always geting trapped like this?

also c-bets from the CO and BTN get raised more often because they are seen as steal positions.
Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.

This flop minraise means nothing, they just don't think you have anything.
Playing big pots at small stakes.

pretty much never limp with a hand you're going to have to play carefully when you hit your most likely hand. esp OTB!! playing carefully should be your back up

OP it is of course possible you're getting out played but my guess is:

    1) sample size. Whenever you move up it's easy to question your game way too quickly.

    2) Generically, people are more aggressive as you move up, both because this is better play usually and because learning players tend to think more about preventing draw outs than getting max value.
So these may be spots where at the old level you usually got c/c'd but now they are CRing instead.

I would check behind a lot on a Q92 board with a limper in although c betting is of course fine. Even if you make a pair after getting called it's meh.
