Average Joes quest to get rolled. 10nl to 1knl.

Default Average Joes quest to get rolled. 10nl to 1knl.

What's up long time listener first time poster.

Gonna have a bit of free time on my hands so I thought I'd go on a bit of a poker quest, and see can I build my roll up from $67.43 (€50) to 30K and thus rolled for 1knl.

I know this sounds pretty ambitious! Especially considering the fact that the highest I've even been rolled for is 100nl. For the moment just think of this as my blog of getting from 10nl to 100nl. But I'm gonna keep shooting for the stars and trying to work up the limits.

Have played a lot of micros so I'm hoping I ease through the micro part of this quest. Gonna start at 10nl (sorry but can't bare the thought of playing anything less, despite being extremely underrolled).

I'm gonna play on PokerStars (by far my luckiest site). Used to play on a European site with rakeback, but I find this sites crap software to be extremely tilting, actually lost a few $100 trying to build a roll in the past. Will post graphs/hands/sick beats/personal reflections etc.

Next stop $500 and 30 BIs at 25nl. Will read twoplustwo microstakes board+watch one video, everyday.

    Hope you enjoy the ride.

    Good Luck in your endeavor!
I'm playing at 10nl as well, are you playing 6max or FR?

Tried to post a few hands there but unfortunately I can't post any URLS until I have 10 posts so no hand histories(pictures)

If any mods could help me out I would greatly appreciate it. Up 2 buy-ins though

Thanks for your interest. I play 6max only, I don't like FR one bit TBH.

    You mean $750 for 30 buy-ins?

    No I actually meant $500 for 20 buy-ins

Down a buy-in for today, which isn't exactly the start I was hoping for, especially considering my less than desirable bankroll. Bankroll now $58 dollars.

Will play a K or 2 hands tomorrow and hopefully that will push me back into the green.

Well have played 2178 hands in total and my am in total $-6 dollars. Not off to the flying start I hoped for, hopefully can turn things around, need to try to play more hands.

Probably will be taking a break until Friday cos of real life stuff.

4k hands total and I am bust-even. Was at one time down 4 BIs for the day and at others up 4 BIs. But finishing now with my bankroll at evens, so I think that's me up $5 for the day (man do I wish I had rakeback!)

Just gonna put today to the back of my mind, and try to start tomorrow with fresh ambition and see can I do the business. Think I have improved my 10nl quite a bit, so hopefully I've got the tools to string a winning run together.

4k hands is not a lot, and the fact I have nothing to show for it doesn't really matter one bit. Did manage to string a winning run together (from -4BIs to +4BIs) but this sick beat really finished me off (a few hands after my Qs being cracked by a donks Js).

CO had about a 20% to draw out on you. Have you heard of Pokerstove? It's made for finding the EV of allin situations.

Yeah I have pokerstove I was just too lazy to check what odds I was. All I know was he sucked out like a b1tch

Yeah 20% was a pretty good guess, I would have thought he was more about 10%.

Gonna get the show back on the road in about an hour.

Good news to followers of the blog. I found some old money in an old account and won a few lucky sit & goes. Total balance stands at $160. I have moved to a prominent European site, the software isn't as good as stars, but the bonuses are far superior. This site has .10/.20, so as soon as the BR hits $300 it's on to that.

After going to a bad place (-2.5BIs) I'm now at 3.5BIs on my new site. SHIP IT HOLLA BALLA GIVE ME A DOLLA.
Dunno will I play tomorrow, kinda got places to go people to see.

Just read my OP, where I said I would be posting hands + watching vids, I haven't done any of that. Think for the moment I'm gonna try to steamroll past 10nl by just playing lots and lots of hands.

I have 20nl firmly in my sights! Might try and get an early morning K of hands in tomorrow.

Fun hand vs. two 50+ VPIP monkeys. SB's PFR is about 5, is that makes this hand especially daring. He told me in chat later he folded 1010

Thanks for your support! But I'm only up 5 BIs playing cash on Ipoker when it comes down to it, which is just a standard swing. If I play another 3k hands I could easily be down 5 BIs. There's still a LONG LONG road to 100nl. I'll post my graph when I hit 10k hands, and I'm sure it won't be pretty

It's an advanced metagame play called calling with the nuts when the pot it over 80bbs deep and the Vill still has about 40BBs behind.

Actually what happened was that I was playing a few other tables and was waiting for my clock to time down a bit in a desperate attempt to conceal my flush. Then I just hit the call button instead of the raise button accidentally.

He showed up with QJo so I guess there was no guarantee he was calling. (although probably because of the price he was getting).
  21. #21
doesn't matter if he calls a raise after he bets, the raise changes nothing but that he may call more. Calling is 0EV since you are winning that pot anyway. If your missing decisions like this then your playing too many tables. Stop grinding and play poker. This hand left 40BB's on the table.\

You claim this hand was a misclick and you missed obvious value that my 4 year old would see. This is an alarm bell. This is just one hand that you posted, are you gonna tell us that it's the only errors you made because your playing too many tables?

It was just a missclick, could have happened two tabling, I'll try to be more careful next time

Not to sound arrogant but after 4 days and nothing but coolers, suck-outs and other BS, I feel I finally got my just rewards on Ipoker. It took the patience of a monk not to throw my monitor out the window after some of the crazy sh!t I've seen. But chalk it down to variance and I've still came out smiling . For someone with a tendency to tilt, I've been impressed with my discipline, a lot of it though is thanks to this blog I feel. I know I've only played 5.5K hands and there's still a long road to travel, but I won't lie I'm pretty happy with where I'm at right now, botht BR wise and game wise.

Bankroll stands at 275 dollars, after another 5k hands I really hope to be playing 20nl.
  24. #24
7k hands played on iPoker, roll is at 300 bucks. That gives me 15 BIs for 20nl, might try some aggressive bankroll management techniques tomorrow.

Will probably play another 1 or 2 k hands at 10nl first though.

    GL, it's your money.

And when I say GL, I mean it, 15 BI is not a lot, you're risking a lot, play another month of 10NL and get rolled properly.

Thanks very much Adam. I'd love to report back with good news. But I'm already down 80 bucks.

I am on ubertilt. Just nothing seems to be going right for me. 20nl on iPoker plays RIDICULOUSLY different to 10nl. Typically every time I try something I'm getting check raised, and every time I have a holding I'm getting nothing but folds, and this is sending me into nothing short of a frenzy.

Everytime I sit down for a session, I approach the game with a fresh outlook and hope to keep my composure and make right decisions, but every session I make at least one ridiculous spew off.

Hopefully things go right soon and I can dig myself out of this hole! After all this BS, I'm still only stuck 4 BIs, so at the end of the day I'm still pretty happy. 20nl you are a cruel mistress!
  27. #27
OK, obviously this BLOG went to the wall in a seriously bad way. Someone give me a Bankroll management plan for HUSNGs on stars. I have 80 bucks left.
