Default First hand with JJ on button facing raise from 2 off button

I wasn't sure whether to raise, call, or fold this pre-flop, or whether to bet 400 or push on the flop. What would you have done both PF and on the flop?

Man i've been playin a lot of low buy-in sngs at stars and i would have probably just called here because he's probably going to call a medium sized re-raise here with more than likely two over cards and if you make a big re-raise his range would imo be AK-AQ 1010+ so your goin lose that more often than not. And once the flop comes you can decide where you think you are. Because if you feel like your better than most of the people your playing then you wouldn't to put a lot of money in pre-flop with coin-flips.

I don't like 3 betting JJ pre flop on the first hand, as you have absolutely no information on each other, so you don't'know if he's the type only to call with QQ+/AK or to call with any pair or broadway. It seems better to call and evaluate the flop, particularly as you are in position.

I agree with the others, I'd flat call and try to get all my chips in on an overpair or set flop, if the flop comes Q high I'd try to get to showdown as cheaply as possible (and call some small bets along the way), if it comes K or A high I'd probably give up unless the pot odds are irresistable.

you have position so call here and play a flop. If the flop is all unders call any reasonable bet on the flop then see what happens on the turn. Many players at that level will fire out a C-bet, but then give up on the turn if they haven't hit their hand.
Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.

Yeah you are in position here, I'd just flatcall pf and see what the flop has to offer.. If there's an A or K and opp checks, I'd check behind.. if he bets I'd fold probably(depending on the size of the bet though), just try to get a cheap showdown there.
If there's no overcards and he's betting I'm raising the flop most of the time.. But this spot is tricky as you have no reads on opp at all.

I would go with a call here, MP actually made the decision a bit easier by making the raise 3.5 BB, reducing pot odds for the blinds even if you flat call

Ok, he checked the flop, I pushed and he folded. Assuming I just called PF would it have been better to just bet here so if he indicates he has a better hand by reraising i can get out, or would that just give him an opportunity to steal the pot?

what cards were on the flop? shoving the flop is like 250% - 300% the size of the pot (I think) so thats a big overbet.

No need to shove the flop. With 650 chips in the pot and 1200 behind that's an overbet on a dry flop. I'd bet about 450 and take it from there (calling a shove).
