Default 44 in the BB against button raise by Sprayed in $12/180

Sprayed has been playing squeaky tight up to now. Thoughts on this shove over?

    I think its brilliant.

Sprayer probably knows that you knows that he has been very tight, and therefore I guess he puts you on a very strong range when you shove over.

Obviously you cant call, and I estimate both equity and fold equity pretty high and therefore like a shove.

    Folding is not bad either.

I was playing several tables at the time and when it popped up after I made my raise I noticed Tai's name. I didn't have my HUD on because it slows things down when I have a lot of tables open. I saw that Tai had a type of stack that was good for resteals and I knew he knew who I was and that he might figure that I have a somewhat wide range. I figured that he was shoving wide to get me to fold so I made the call with AJo.

What are your opinions for either player?

Both of you are better players than me, but I dont think Tai is shoving a very wide range here.

IMO TAIs shoving range crushes AJ in this spot. I guess a sensible range would be; most pps, AK, AQ+ some random 79s, TJs, 9Js type of hands.

Now the question is; Would you still have called if you could see Tais hand?

Meh that's pretty wide in itself. I think that the push is close for him if he thinks that I'm not calling with anything better than 7%. Which is probably correct. But, with my stack size, I'm not raising with anything that I'm not willing to call an all in with. The reason why his shove made me think a little is because it was Tai. At first I thought that he could only be shoving a monster but then I figured that he probably thinks that he can get me to fold.

i think its played fine on both ends, def wouldnt raise fold aj there..44 is a good shove i think, although like sprayed said, hes only folding complete air there if at all

But you are still risking your tourney life versus this range which you have about 45% Equity against.

Main reason I dont like the play with AJ is that I dont think Tai shoves any worse aces and at best we are like 65/35 fav versus 89s type of hands.

BTN still has a nice stack if he folds. Bet/folding pre is definitely not a bad play versus many players.

    raise less pre

also lol at too many table to run a hud

i would fold the 44 vs a known competent player, shove vs random

I think its fine by both, although there is something you have to watch out for

A lot of good MTT regs are never raise/folding the button with 15bbs and will shove the bottom of their range and 3x the top of it

If we are playing versus someone who never folds after raising pre, I dont think shoving 44 is a good idea.

Interestingly, Tai thinks he has a lot of FE, yet Sprayed says he had very llittle FE. Do we generally have very little FE in spots like these- assuming good players?

Also, against solid players I have noticed that I get a lot of FE when I 3x in late game. Thus I have incorporated the raise/fold as an essential part of my late game strategy in Sngs.

Sprayed- Would you have called the AI if the SB shoved instead of Tai?

If no, then why the 3x?

I would normally shove in this spot, but I wasn't paying enough attention when the table popped up and just bet 3x. I stack and at times I don't take enough time to look at the total situation. Yes I would have called the sb if he had shoved. I'm in lp with a stack around 10M. I look like I'm stealing and my 3x raise has pretty much committed me to the pot.

When I run 20 tables, my 2 gb of RAM can't keep up. Plus, I don't want to let the world know what Tai's numbers are.
