    Default Stupid hand...any thoughts?

    Hi all,
This hand is from a 1,20 SG at CD Poker. In retrospect, I think my bets could be higher in the flop and I could shove the turn. Calling the river is stupid. However, his pot sized bet indicates some weakness (a lower flush or perhaps a top pair). Thats why i called (I know I should not). I wonder what would you do in this spot...
I dont have any specific reads here...it was early on. He was playing 50/15/2.

    Pot the flop.
Bet 2/3 of the pot on the turn

flop is fine, potting is overkill imo, get some value from 66

turn bet makes no sense, can you explain it?

If you make a real turn bet you should probably shove any river since you'll have to call a shove anyway and he'll check behind all his Ks.

4 players see the flop Hero is OOP with what is probably the best hand, however if one opp calls other opponents can arguebly get implied odds to call.

On the turn you dont want to give the FD a free card and if he has a K and called your flop he will probably call turn as well

I agree the turn bet is nonsense
At CD Poker we have limited time to think. Of course I was concerned by the flush draw, but I guess when someone calls the flop bet and the flush card does not come...they would give up to almost any bet (since he is 4:1 to make the flush). For me, the best play is shoving turn. He would not call with 20% equity (flush).

The problem is that I need to get better in putting opponents in ranges. When he called the flop I thought he had Kx, a low pocket pair or a flush draw. I was comfortable after the turn...I was beating his range and the flush would be made 20% of the time. Still...I should shove here.

The call on the river is a silly mistake...but in these games I see very often players overbetting with middle pair, top pair and 2 pairs.

I agree with TLR, I bet closer to pot size on the flop, maybe 160 or so. Also helps build a bigger pot so you can get it in on subsequent streets without it being an overbet.

I also agree that the turn bet size is silly, you essentially need to commit yourself to the hand so your river decision is a no brainer.

Take a look at this thread, which is sort of similar to your hand, where your bet sizes need to be appropriate to both price out draws and build a big pot with a big hand:

This hand only becomes stupid because of bet sizing.
Just dipping my toes back in.

Bet min 1/2 of the pot on the turn.
Check Raise All in on the River.

.they would give up to almost any bet (since he is 4:1 to make the flush)
unless you lay them a price of 4/1?

I would either read up on pot odds (HOH is a good place to start) or stop thinking about them because this post shows you don't really understand what you are saying.

what amount can we bet where callers 3 & 4 are not getting a good price?
