Default $100 - 6 man torney, last 3 hands for review.

    Howdy all,

The following are three consecutive hands from a 6 man $100 + $9 torney. According to SS, there were 3 winning players (myself plus two others) and 3 losing players, all 3 considerably down.

It got down to the last 4, with one winning & two losing players left, (the other winning player being IGrindeOnU, who was up 12k on ss) it had been aggressive poker for several hands up until now, mostly a preflop raise or shove followed by a fold or shove, with the previous hand having seen me take someones stack and becoming chip leader. I had been playing pretty tight and agressive all game and the last few hands had seen some pretty outrageous raises being called down.

I should also add this was my last opportunity to play poker for a month or two so cashed out most of my cash and decided to go for broke with the last few bucks, chucking it into the larges torney I could buy and working my way up, culminating in this game at the end of a very long session, so regardless of how this ended I wasn't playing anymore for a while.

So here are the three hands in full. My questions, should I have been in any of these hands? Was I unlucky or just stupid and deserved to lose? Below each hand is an explanation of my thought process.

And I have left the results in because the subsequent hand would give away the results of the previous hand anyway due to chip distribution.

    Hand 1

    Button p99njoe (1300)
    SB ukkio (2970)
    BB Hero (3760)
    UTG IGrindeOnU (970)

Preflop: Hero is in the BB with 7 K
    1 fold, p99njoe raises to 1300, 1 fold, Hero calls 1000.

    Flop (2750) K Q 2

    Turn (2750) A

    River (2750) 3

    p99njoe shows 8 K
    Hero shows 7 K

p99njoe wins 2750 with Flush (Diamonds) with Ace high

I just didn't think he had anything, he was low on chips and thought it was a steel, so figured my K may be good, and I had the chips to handle the loss.

    Hand 2

    Button ukkio (2820)
    SB Hero (2460)
    BB IGrindeOnU (970)
    UTG p99njoe (2750)

Preflop: Hero is in the SB with K 2
2 folds, Hero raises to 2460, IGrindeOnU moves all-in for 670.

    Flop (3430) J 5 4

    Turn (3430) T

    River (3430) K

    Hero shows K 2
    IGrindeOnU shows K 7

IGrindeOnU wins 3430 with One pair, Kings

I figured IGrindOnU was calling ATC and I had a K again which I figured against ATC would prob be +ev.

    Hand 3

    Button Hero (1490)
    SB IGrindeOnU (1940)
    BB p99njoe (2750)
    UTG ukkio (2820)

Preflop: Hero is on the Button with 8 K
    1 fold, Hero raises to 1490, 1 fold, p99njoe calls 1190.

    Flop (3130) A 7 5

    Turn (3130) 7

    River (3130) 7

    p99njoe shows A J
    Hero shows 8 K

p99njoe wins 3130 with A full house, Sevens and Aces

This time I figured I I would be assumed to be steeling due to past 2 hands, and figured either they'd just let me take it or else may call with a weeker hand as I may have been put on ATC and attempting a steel. Possibly also some tilt on this one.

    I'm assuming blinds were 150/300

Anyways, when I am almost in the money (either in the bubble, or one away from the bubble) and am one of the big stacks, I try not to call too many AI unless I am getting good pot odds or I am certain that the raiser is stealing. Mostly when I am almost in the money, I am going for first in raises; calling a raise has no fold equity and as a result, is purely card-based. That being said, I would not call with K7o with two short stacks getting 1.75:1 odds.

Hand 2 is fine, SB stealing against someone with 2-3BB

Hand 3 is also fine, shoving 5BB on BTN with K8o

just your bad luck that they all had hands that beat you

H1: I fold due to the utg SS. No need to ship anyone else your equity.
H2:Super standard. You dont want him to call but it was a +EV blind steal.
H3: Very standard steal that is also +EV.

The only thing I would "maybe" watch for is if people are seeing you blind steal with K-rag. They might begin to call you lighter. I say maybe in quotes because you might just have gotten unlucky.

I don't know why you think the short stacks is moving with nothing, the worst hand I would have put him on is KJ and KJ beats you. Also, pot odds were very bad, you call 1000 more for a 300 blind, most likely to be a losing situation.

Moral of the story, stop playing king-rag if you dont think your gonna hit at least two pairs. Too much wild gambling like K-2 will bring you weird and losing situation.

Hand 1: I would fold this, I dont agree with your assessment that he will move in very wide since he is the 2nd shortest stack with the short stack hitting the blinds, I was actually surprised to see the hand he had.

    Hand 2 & 3 are fine
