    Default Calling Ranges on Bubble

If I am doing push/fold research in Wiz, what are proper calling ranges to set for villains on the bubble, assuming they are not chip leader nor extremely short?

I've been doing 15% for all opponents and occasional loose chip leaders or tight short stacks

    Thanks

Eh things like this are really really dependent so it's really hard to tell. I think the best way for you to effectively study this sort of thing is pull your tournies up and see plug there ranges in as tight, average, and loose. This way, your brain won't just know what range to adjust to and will be able to adapt to different situations better.

If you want to get particular about ranges pull up a game in replayer as well as whiz and adjust ranges according to what you see in replayer and what your image is.

Assessing opps' likely ranges is a really key skill in poker so it's really hard to give you a general guide as to a likely calling range. Depends on so many things - reads, stack sizes, position etc.

One thing you can do with Wiz is plug in different ranges and see when shoving/calling becomes +EV and -EV, then ask yourself whether it is likely that opp would or would not call that loose/tight. As an extreme example, it's very unlikely that the second stack would call a big stack shove with 50% of hands when it's the bubble and there's a shortstack around. The other situations to watch out for are spots that are always +EV or always -EV regardless of what opp's range might be.

If you want to post a hand(s) and what range you think is appropriate, we can give you some feedback.

Thanks for the replies. It's just that I feel like I have a really strong feel for the push/fold game when its anywhere from 5 to 9 handed, but then when I get to the bubble I am just unsure of how to adapt to different situations, i.e. loose chip leader, presence of one or more short stacks, tight table, etc. I think that if I can master bubble play, I can effectively multitable 12+ at a time and have a positive $/hour rate

You should learn to LOVE it. By LOVING the bubble, you can abuse players who hate it and therefore make suboptimal decisions (= more money for you).

It seems to me that i struggle with calling on the buble too.
I often see a pushing shortstack on the buble when i am big blind with 2x more chips. I take a look at his stats and he looks tight aggressive and he should know that he has to push ATC here. I call with hesitation (putting him on +30% of pushing range) and he shows me AKs or smth like this. Dont know if it is short term luck or i play bad regarding calling on the buble.

    Another example.
    Blinds 200/400/25
UTG has 1590 chips and is pushing....
5 ppl fold and me in the BB call the raise with A6o with 4000 chips.
It is EV+ when villain is pushing +20%. Again he showed AK.

Maybe general question is how many ppl know the term "never get blinded out" at my Tourneys $6.50 or how to recognize these players when you multitable 12+

If you hate the bubble then I can't image how unbearable sngs would be. The only light at the end of the tunnel as far as sngs go is abusing nits.
