Wasn't too much fun... had a young live-pro to my right for about an hour who had a €1k chip on display, so we know he's l33t... told everyone what they had on every hand... and circled around the table for a full minute after he busted out, berating the guy for calling his minraise with K9 from the bb.

Last hand, I raise TT from the CO with a 42k stack, 800/1600/200 level, chipleader tanks a little and then pushes all-in. I thought there was a chance he's full of it - he had been raised a lot, and seemed to min 3-bet for value usually. But what made my decision was that there were at least 1.5 more hours before the FT, and I realized I could make an average cash playing at home, and I prolly had 35% equity against his range at worst anyway.

Ace high is the best hand on the turn like 85% of the time in this spot*, but it's a very draw heavy board, so he's more likely to be semi-bluffing... I really don't want to see a lot of river cards. If he's good enough to realize that he made a stupid turn bet, he could put me on exactly Ax and make a really marginal river bet and get me to fold a lot.

But then there's really no point in betting the turn with a draw either... I'm not going to bet when the 8 pairs after I checked the flop, and I'd have a hard time parting with A high.

*Just because of the bet sizing... he knows I don't have any pair, any draw after I check the flop... so there's no point in betting that big... and I do know the guy somewhat - value bets look different.

Had to reinstall xp because my hd was dying, and I had so much crap on anyway, so I didn't bother mirroring the partition...
After that I didn't get HEM to work... got a Teamviewer session scheduled with support for today. Tried to get PT working so I at least have a hud and can do session reviews, but PT refuses to autoimport - sais FT doesn't save HH's, which is wrong. I can only manually import new hands.

So no hud, but I played anyway today... sucked in some spots, but I can't wait forever.

I'm seriously considering switching back to linux and running the poker stuff in a VM - I was running linux for a couple of years before my favorite distributions made some really gay decisions synchronously, and I didn't like the alternatives... and because I started playing lots of poker and SP2 made XP acceptable to use, I got back on the windows train.

Played two short sessions in the morning, and a longer one now when I really shouldn't have been playing. Was pretty tired, made some pretty bad plays, played too many tables... luckily I break even after flopping set-over-set.

I think it's really cool that poker is catching on here. I won't go live pro anytime soon, but hopefully there will be more action at 5/10 by the time I'm rolled for it. (I don't think it pays to play lower live)

Pretty damn horrible session. I wouldn't mind being down $350 - but $260 of those went to a total drooler who I convinced to play me HU, but then he opened a 55+5 turbo HU sng... He took down 4/4. When I finally got him to agree open 100NL cash - AND HE OPENS A $100 TURBO HU SNG.

Someone else sits down (also legally retarded) and beats him, and he logs off never to be seen again.

Then I simultaneously sit down with a HU '''reg''' at a 100NL table who sits in for 85.67 and tops off to 100 after the first hand.
Played almost worse than the drooler because it was so freaking obvious what he was doing. Got it in with an underpair in a preflop war and he leaves immediately.

If you are a semi-retarded HU reg, and you're reading this:
Sit out the moment you realize you're an underdog in the match... don't hope to get your money back by getting in a miracle situation where the chips will actually go your way.
I don't want to sound like Mr Grumpy because I've made lots of monies against guys like that in March.

Once I 4-bet/ got it in with AKs against some guy who was 3-betting for the 3rd time since sat down - only 20 hands, but I don't think I can play it any different oop. and another time co vs btn where I 5-bet shoved against a guy who has 40% fold to 3-bet and 30% 4-bet. Ran into AA both times.
Twice I lost AK all-in pre vs J7s and Q4s. - huge overbet shove with J7s 300bb deep.

I played a little on Titan today just to get the HUD running.
I played their beginner tables, because I can.

The software is a catastrophe. I don't know how they can get away with it. The right table only gets the focus about 50% of the time. You get a second audible warning, but it still doesn't bring up the table, so stacking tables is impossible. Even when they're tiled you're not really getting any visual cues that it's your turn to act.
On top of that the graphics are just as bad as it can get. Blue background with red seats, and just way too much going on with the avatards and everything *eyecancer*.
Will have to find a skin or something.

I don't really know where I'm going from here. I've lost almost all of this months profit running about 2k behind all-in EV. Today I topped it off by loosing my biggest pot ever with KK vs AA against a 66/55 over 1k hands. And it was most definitely tilt. I was 3-betting him relentlessly, and he hadn't 4-bet me once. If I was thinking clearly, I would have called for set value, which might sound like results oriented thinking, but when you 3-bet someone over and over again, and they don't adjust over 2 or 3 hours, they're not going to adjust, and getting it in 300bb deep with KK is pure spew.

I'm really tempted to cash everything but 2k out and rebuild from 50NL. Mostly because I don't know if I will even continue to play this game if I loose another 2k.
I've had pretty swingy streches. I think I can loose 5BI within a session and continue to play pretty much my usual game. But right now if I get it in I can't help but anticipate the suckout, or running into the top of their range, because it just happened over and over again over the last 15k hands, and I play a lot worse as a result.

The way I'm running I couldn't be up a cent over the last 20k hands, but I think I lost at least 50% more than necessary due to tilt.

Anyway. Operation is on halt. I'll be reading some books, doing some range and equity exercises, and I probably won't play a lot before July.

Lost my deposit on Titan... which isn't a big deal... I know that going broke was a possibility unless I deposit like 2-3k. And like I said, the software is just incredibly bad.

I deposited a little back to the site where I started with 10NL - it's an austrians only Boss Network skin. It's really fun to play, because pretty much nobody understands the fundamentals, but at 100NL+ most players play every day, and they do certain things right while doing other things horribly wrong.
You get into spots where there are 2 limpers, you open and 7 players call, and someone donks the flop for 1/4 pot with 2 callers before it gets to you. I'll play there when I'm going to make an <8 table session... otherwise FT is just so much better.

Also I will be trying not to look at my cashier too much. I'll just update session times and interesting spots, which should make for a more interesting blog.

I was going to play a late night session, but it was so hot that I needed to go out... so I just decided to move my session to the cardroom and play a live session.
This was actually pretty relaxing. A lot of it was 8 to 4 handed due to tables breaking up, and people taking long breaks. They have free breakfeast at 6AM which is also nice.
I felt like I was the only player who was really comfortable playing 1/2 - I expected at least one or two regs...

Maybe the most important thing I got from this was how much it helps just to stay calm and relaxed on the outside... after some time I felt really comfortable, and even some very tricky spots couldn't change that.
Also not getting rushed into decisions by the timebank is nice even though I don't think I took longer than 10 sec. on any decision.
With 6 hours this was my longest poker session - except for a couple of tournaments where I made the FT, and it felt like 2 hours online.

Played another live session today... Got to the cardroom at 1AM and played till 8AM.
Had a poker revelation today... I was doing the Tommy Angelo chip dance - he suggests that you try moving one chip from the top of one stack to the other every time the dealer shuffles... that didn't go well from the get go. I lost a good chunk on my first hand and immediately topped off (no auto top-off, wtf???!!!)... and immediately skipped the second hand.

About half an hour and a dozen missed shuffles later I decide to cheat and move the chip to the right every time I get a blue card, and to the left when I get a red one - they always alternate... so I immediately know if I screwed up, unless I skip two in a row.
Then at about 3AM there was a strech where I felt like I hadn't made a mistake in about an hour... mostly because I folded like 30 hands straight... and opened / checked back / folded turn to one of those acting geniuses who're like 'oh my god, if I look like I'm constipated when I check he will never put me on a hand'... and the chip keeps going to the right stack without fail.
So all goes smoothly until I miss an easy b/f with 2nd pair against a tilted station, and I immediately forget to move the chip the next hand.
Shortly after that there was another hand where I thought I might not have gotten the most value out of it, and it was all downhill from there. For at least an orbit I didn't even have the chip on top of any stack because I took it to make a raise, and just forgot about it altogether.

So anyway... what I've been trying to do for quite a while now unsuccessfully was to experience my play as if I was watching myself play. I realize a lot of obvious mistakes at session review, and it should have really been clear to me at the table that I was making a mistake... I figured if I can get into the state of mind that I am while reviewing it would help my game a lot, and this exercise is something that might just be the way to get there... even if it's just an indicator that I am either too involved with the situation, or drifting away. I have yet to come up with something similar that will work while playing online.

Also working hard on my 6th street play... planning ahead what I am going to do when I have no more decision to make... like what will I do if I loose this pot, what if I get slowrolled... can I reload fast efficiently enough to have the right chips in the right denomination before I get dealt my next hand, and so forth.

I continue to play online, and I think I'm doing well. I've managed not to look at the cashier for the last 3 sessions, and I hope I can keep that up.
Operation for the next live session is: try to actively follow 5 hands straight. This means: put everyone on a range, and make mental notes. This might seem easy... but it's a lot harder than you think.
That and continuing my chipdance... I probably will need to take breaks.
I realize that might sound ridiculous if you haven't tried it, but this is actually really hard... I'll have one of my friends with me, and we can prolly make a sidebet on the chipdance stuff... I will own him so bad, he has no idea.

A problem I have with the forum and irc lately is that everyone seems to try and work on that equilibrium solution to the game, and everyone is like "well, if I do this, I also have to do that"... and well, you don't. Of course it's kind of nice to think about your game and figure out a strategy that is basically unexploitable, but you're often giving away value, and you're often making plays that are simply -EV against certain opponents with your specific hand... they still won't be able to exploit your range, but you don't have to play theoretically optimally...

So what I'm saying is that I think an unexploitable solution is usually a suboptimal one... That and I think there are a lot more options in any given situation. As long as you have chips and there are cards to come, there are endless ways a hand can play out, and to say "I would always c-bet", or "I would always c/r", or "I would always c/c, donk turn here" is really simplifying the game way too much.

So that's my little rant for today... and there will be a lot of them because I won't be posting session durations and results anymore, so suck it.

Well, oskar what you are talking about is unexploitability vs. exploitability.

When you play to exploit your opponent you are playing an exploitable strategy yourself. When you bet/fold top pair on the flop vs. a fish, you're exploitable vs. bluff raises, but a passive fish doesn't think about bluff raising you so you keep on running the bet/fold line because your overall strategy exploits the lack of bluff raises by the fish.

I'm not saying that nobody is ever adjusting... I mean spots where you might try to bet the same amount as a bluff as you do with a made hand, or you don't 3b because you only 3b nut hands there when your opponent clearly isn't paying attention.

But I'm barking up the wrong tree here because you are one of the the least methodical player here... for good or worse.

So since I've stopped reporting my results it looks like there is nothing much to report about.

I've picked up some speed again after last month.
I couldn't resist checking my graph because I knew I probably made it past 10k in recorded profit. I should be just over 15k in lifetime winnings now.
This week I've cashed out some to buy a new car... a new used car... I'll probably have it home and licensed on Wednesday - so no pictures yet.
I'll cash out some more on the 9th of August because I'm going on vacation for a week. I have 8k online right now, so unless I continue to hit my worst strech of variance ever, I'll be comfortably within my BR limits for 100NL... but it means I won't be moving up either for another month or so.

That was really nice... withdraw it, go to the bank, have the lady behind the counter ask "how would you like your money?", and go buy some big toys... after all this is kind of the thing you fantasize about when you first deposit your $10 and take a shot at poker.

Yesterday I played some live again. There are small poker rooms opening up all over the city. Some have games as low as 25c/50c. So that's fun. At 1/2 people are playing way too serious... they get emotional and stuff.
I'm a big looser over my first couple 1/1 sessions, but I make it up with some profit at 1/2.

Right now I'm figuring out some life management stuff. It looks like my best option is to take a 20h job as a decoy so I don't need to pay taxes on poker or sumthin.

Running super hot this month... Up a lot in hardly any hands. Started playing some 1/2... Everytime I'm moving up someone tells me "Oh no, but xNL to xNL is a hoooooch jump" And then I get there, and it's the same idiots making the same mistakes. It was the same from 10NL to 25NL, from 25 to 50, from 50 to 100 and now from 100 to 200.
The stakes get higher, the regs get a little smarter, but it never was a huge jump.

Haven't played a single hand that week, and I don't even feel like playing now.
Gotta put in some volume though.
I'll spend a lot of time playing drums... practicing, going to sessions, finding new bands. That will take up most of my afternoons and evenings, so I'll have to set my poker sessions earlier. That means I'll be playing at the worst hours, but I have other priorities right now.
I went climbing yesterday and I think I'll start doing that some more.

I'll be applying at a music school for a 30h job which should cover health insurance and all that crap. I like teaching a lot, and it makes everything much less complicated... insurance, taxes...

I'll keep shooting for ~2h+ of poker every day.

I've played less than 10k hands and I'm over 2k for the month, which even makes it a little harder for me to sit down and grind it out.
