Default KQo in an ugly spot

This is a 45-man turbo tournament. The bubble isn't too near.

While villain is still pretty new to me, he is running 67/0 meaning that he's limped 8 of the 12 hands I've seen him play. I figured the isolation was justified. Plus he's been calling a bit of PFRs.

The flop is probably the ugliest thing. I figured i should rep the ace to his check, so I did with this small (horrible) bet that a T will call occasionally and an A would shove over. The problem is in the stack sizes. Virtually any flop bet commits me (as did this one).

How are you playing this flop vs this guy? Just check behind despite the potential draws?

    CO (t5289)
    Button (t2670)
    SB (t1225)
    BB (t4140)
    UTG (t1155)
    MP1 (t3650)
    Hero (MP2) (t4010)

    Hero's M: 13.37

    Preflop: Hero is MP2 with K, Q
    1 fold, MP1 calls t200, Hero bets t1000, 4 folds, MP1 calls t800

    Flop: (t2300) A, 10, 5 (2 players)
    MP1 checks, Hero bets t1200, MP1 raises to t2650 (All-In), Hero ???

PF you could have shoved over.

As played you have to call but are taking a -cEV line by 3%. I would have bet pot and then you would have had your odds to call. Does anyone hate just checking the flop?

I don't like how this hand was played at all.

PF: Either raise smaller or shove, probably raise smaller. Raising this size sets up an awkward spot if he calls and shoves over a c-bet, as you discovered.

Flop: I either jam or check it back. As played call because he doesn't always have an A.

tell me about it... I don't know what I was thinking. I had a good read, but I "exploited" it wrongly. In retrospect, I prefer raising to about 700 and probably betting about half pot (800-900) into a 1600 pot. I could fold a little easier to the shove over.

I definitely like raising to 700 pre much, much more. KQ isn't all that great anyways and should really be at the bottom of your iso range for this type of tourney & situation in my opinion. Also, 67/0 type players are very passive post flop and like to trap so I might check this one back since you have backdoor hearts + gutshot. I usually only bet vs. these players if they have shown 2 streets of weakness or if I'm valuebetting.

nice post... I've been getting trapped more than I'd like.

raise pre to 700/800. you're needlessly bloating the pot, and now your cbet has to be huge - much more comfortable than you're willing to invest at this point in the tourney.

as played, you gotta call now with so much in there.

Even with a serial limper out front? Why?

I'm kind of curious about this also. I would think shove > fold but I'm sure you have a good reason for stating that.

I don't really like shoving here unless there are antes, it isn't a great price and if people have noticed the same thing you have you may get called more wide than you would like behind. If we give ourselves an M of 8 the shove looks around break even and limper's hand is better than the "BB".

Any other play I just don't think we have the stack for it, I generally assume people running 67/0 are stations post too. I would rather just try and pick up a hand against him.

pretty much agree with all of this and i think i'd shove if the antes were in play.
