Good Multi-tabling ROI?

    Default Good Multi-tabling ROI?

So, I cancelled my " DON challenge", and in the mean time retired from DON. I deposited $50 onto Fulltizzle Sept. 21 to try regular sng, mainly because I hear everyone saying there is more money in them. I have been multi-tabling (6-9 tables at a time) the absolute dog crap out of $1.25/$2.25/$5.50 (and soon-to-be $11) 9-man reg. SNG.
I made the transition from DON sng to reg. payout structure sng and at first was unsure what to expect. My ITM play for my first 200 or so sng was a bit careless and have adapted to the normal sng alot better than I thought. My question is, if I am 6-9 tabling these, what can I expect my ROI to be to be considered "good". I hear 20% is solid, but I know multi-tabling decreases ROI but increases hourly rate. I have a small sample size of over 400 sng in 13 days, (18% ROI) and my roll stands at $322.07 after clearing my bonus and getting rakeback. I am running on a 30 buy-in rule, but should I consider having 40 buy-ins for the $11 sng?
I'm new to the standard SNG (not new, but new at winning in them), and any extra help and advice would be appreciated!!!!

Take a look at the FAQs, I've included some tables which give some suggested ROIs at various buyins.

IMO, those figures are a little dated and maybe a touch high these days. If you playing a couple of a tables at a time, 15-20% at the $5.50's and $11's is very decent. I don't tend to worry too much about my ROI as I add more tables; it's far more important to concentrate on $/hr e.g. it's far more profitable to 20-table and earn 10%, than to 4-table and earn 25%. The latter figure does look more snazzy though and generally makes (poorer - $wise) players feel better.

Completely aside from that, I think you are risking a heck of a lot of your roll by multi-tabling so many tables relative to your roll. I tend to risk no more than 10% of my roll at any one time. The idiosyncrasies of the internet, service providers, power suppy etc. etc. make me sufficiently nervous to discipline myself.

Sorry, my first reply wasn't that helpful!

If you've achieved an 18% ROI over the 400 games you've played so far, that's good. As you said, it really isn't a big enough sample size to draw any meaningful conclusions from, but any time your BR increases that's gotta be a good thing. I agree with Naka that 15-20% is good if you are 6-9 tabling the $5.50s and $11s.

Overall however, I think you should be focusing on making the best decisions that you can and increasing your BR rather than worrying about whether your ROI is good or bad.

I also echo Naka's comments about BR. It's definitely not uncommon to hit a 30-40 buyin downswing at this level so I would recommend having 50 buyins as a minimum, or a) be prepared to reload if you go busto or b) move down stakes if you hit a bad downswing. I like to have 100 buyins for the $27 turbos that I play, and that's what the 2+2 crowd recommend for a player who depends upon poker for an income, but personally I like the feeling of having a big buffer there when the downswings inevitably hit.

Good luck, and post some hands along the way!
