While I understand the politics involved, and that according to those, Obama is a great choice, but call me when the winner of the Peace prize is pushing towards children not being sold for $50 in Haiti, young girls not being raped in Africa, and when military forces are used to protect foreign aid that could feed hundreds of millions

You know, sarbox, you've said some pretty insightful things in the past week. I haven't really pointed them out, but I will point out this time that the idea that westerners should spend mandatory time in nations with humanitarian crises is brilliant. I was going to put something like this in the 'if i were president' thread, but I forgot

Obama is okay in my book, and certainly a heck of a lot better than George W. Chimp, BUT that still isn't exactly saying very much, since Bushy was the worst president we had to date. That said Obama has said so much about change, but I really haven't been seeing enough of it yet. Obama is clearly a very intelligent guy who has made some good things happen, but I still am seeing a ton of unfulfilled promises.

Record cold in October this year. They give out nobel prizes to liars like Al Gore for advancing their liberal adgenda. Obviously they'll bend over backwards to loop-hole Obama in somehow.

Cornel West recently made the excellent point that Obama may have been awarded the Nobel largely as a means to keep the pressure on him. Guantanamo and black sites are still open, and two wars are still going on. Obama talks like he wants peace, has taken some action to do so, but he's still in danger of becoming a war president just like his predecessor.

Maybe this Nobel will give him that extra pressure he needs to make sure that he actually does what is right. If this was the motivation behind giving the prize to Obama then it's a fantastic decision. I imagine Cornel West would actually know, and if true, it possibly sheds light on why some controversial accolades have been bestowed on people like Yasser Arafat

Honestly, I think it's brilliant to use the award proactively, not just retroactively

meh.. party games suck more than FTP imo..

euro sites really just arent as soft as people think they are. Ipokers ratio of running HU tables against bumhunters sitting alone is often worse than stars/ftp. In the months following the bill the games certainly were softer, but its really no different now imo.
