Default $10: Getting value with quads

Early on so no reads. A couple things:

    1. Slow playing the flop: In the long run am I getting value, losing value, or getting in trouble by checking a flop like that?

    2. The river does complete a couple draws, but isn't terribly juicy. How much do you raise?

With three opps seeing the flop, I would definitely bet something to try to build the pot, maybe 100-120 or so. If you were first to act I could see checking to see if anybody tries to take a stab at the pot, but after two players have checked I would bet it.

As played, on the turn I would put in a small raise, maybe either minraise or to 300 or something. After UTG bets the flop, I don't think he/she will fold to a small raise.

On the river, I am torn between raising to like 650-700 and just shoving it right here. After his bet, UTG has 955 behind and he might think that a shove is a bluff to try to get him off his hand. On reflection I think I have a slight preference for a raise to 700 from a value extraction perspective, even if it leaves opp with like 500 behind

Yah villians line looks like a non-nut flush or perhaps A9, K9 (non flush) or something like that.

As played, I reckon heros line will look alot like he was chasing a flush too. A smaller bet probably has the best chance of being called unless villian is ubersuspicious of river shoves.

I can understand the way you played it here.

Preflop is fine, just set mining or looking for an overpair.

On the flop, I think a smallish bet of approx 100 would probably be my line, but with 4 players you would hope someone would hit something on the turn to increase your chance of some action, so checking is understandable.

Once the turn shows another 10, agree with Tai about a smallish raise, as you didn't represent the 10 on the flop, so it may look like a bluff. Had you bet the flop, you would prob not be getting much action at all, unless someone made a boat, in whcih case you would end up all in regardless.

As played, I'd just shove teh river, purely because any other bet is leaving UTG pretty short stacked anyway, and if he is willing to go to, say 600, he's probably willing to go the rest of the way.

    I would raise preflop

As played definitly bet the flop - I would bet 100 or, 7,J,Q on the turn will either put you behind or make it much harder to extract money from hands you beat

Normally I'd bet a set with a draw out there and 3 others iin the pot. I thought I'd see what happens if I didn't this time.

As played, had I noticed how short UTG was on the river, i would have shoved over. I raised to 600 and he called with the nut flush.

anyone notice there was actually a possible strt flush there? I know I would still have gleefully gotten every chip in with quads, just mentioning it.

On my monster rivers (also at the $10 STTs), where I have the nuts or near-nuts, and I know villain has something, I'm becoming a fan of shoving more often than throwing out a value bet or suck raise. Harrington (or another book, can't remember) summarized that it is +EV since you win so many more chips when a shove is called it makes up for the times your shoves aren't called, but would have been with the small suck bet. (I'm rambling, hope this makes sense.) As always, it is situation-specific. In any case, I wish I had this problem more often!
