I always hesitate with 99 and TT, between limping and raising. I chose to open limp this time because I had raised and bet aggressively post flop all the previous hands I was involved into, and had won them all without ever going to showdown. My thinking was to limp and possibly call a small raise, rather than exposing myself to a big preflop reraise, and also not to invest too much (blinds are quite high already) on a hand that is easily dominated post-flop.

The game is your usual low stakes STT, with people limping a lot and playing their Ax and any 2 suited and any paints.

Now clearly, an argument can be made for raising this preflop, I suppose. What do you guys think?

On the flop, the board is drawy and since I failed to raise preflop, the pot is small so I think I should maybe have overbet it (t600?) to make a call a more significant portion of opps' stacks? Thoughts about that?

I don't think I would have played the turn differently given opps' wide range. You?

6 handed and with a 100 BB, I would raise 99 pre-flop, as I think that will make more money on average than limping.

I don't see the advantage in overbetting the flop - the only hands in their ranges that you really need to fear are QcJc, KcJc type hands and they are not folding to another 300. Betting more on the flop would probably fold out more of the hands that you want to keep in like AJo or KQo.

I don't see any problem with your play on the turn either. Maybe you should have shoved the turn, as you were obviously not folding, but having limped pre, your play seems fine to me.

With your stack size, I'd make it 250 to go preflop. One of the problems with limping is that if Button or BB raise, you may not have odds to call and play for set value because their stacks are shorter than yours. Plus, raising preflop gives you postflop initiative to c-bet the flop depending on texture.

As played, can't see any problems with the rest of the hand, maybe I make it 250 to go on the flop but since you got all your chips into the pot with your set that's the outcome you're after.

I like your reasoning for how you played the hand. If you simply posted the hand you'd probably get different comments, but I think that it's important that you're mixing up your preflop based on your table image. When we become predictable and play like robots we become exploitable.

I would probably raise preflop, but I think you played the hand fine

raise pre 100%, mix up your play if need be by having a wide raising range here, not by limping anything. I doubt the deception is worth it in a $1, just make the good value play.

You leave money on the table if you don't take exploitable lines vs people who don't exploit them. That said I don't see what is exploitable about raising here, esp compared with limping where you'll often get out played post flop.

As played you should never call a raise pre after limping, shove over instead.

The rest is fine and over betting the pot is bad because there will not be many Axs out there, you want to entice calls from Tx and gutters.
