    Default microstakes turbosng question-midpairs.

I've recently had a couple of spots with <10bb stack in turbosngs where i've picked up mid pairs 77-99 in utg or utg+1-2 with a near full table. Wondering whether it's a shove or a fold with 5-7 players to act behind you. Shove ofc with <6bb? what about 7-9bb?

SNG wizard would be helpful here. With <10bb youre in push/fold mode. Im not a fan of a UTG shove for my last push. You most likely want to be HU or with 2 opponents at most for your last push. If UTG, your could get 3+ callers and your 77-99 is likely to get smashed. I Look for LP or blinds for last shove.
I finally figured out my problem, my logic is flawed.

I agree I'd rather the blinds pass me and shove with ATC than shove from UTG or UGT+1.

I'd need probably 10s at least and even then I wouldn't be ecstatic about it.

folding 77-99 UTG with less than 10BBs seems like...really really nitty unless there are ICM considerations

what about a flat call and see what the rest of the table does, if you get a raise soon after your fold and the rest of the table folds, then now you are in a better position with a fairly decent starting hand. Worst case scenario with this move would be if you get 3-4 other flat callers then you are SOL. Or you could even 3x-4x and some people arent even paying attention to peoples stacks in micro tournys and will not consider that there post flop risk is a lot less. Me however would be making a 3x-4x raise when im less then 10BB's.
back looking to make some moolah

I think you're better off shoving in most of these situations than folding.

I think you should play with some numbers in SNGwiz and see how far ahead/behind these situations can be.

I would shove 99 with less then 10BB any day, 88 too, 77 with 10 BB I can see a fold with 6-7 players left to act, around 7BB it is a push

I've only used SNGWIZ for bubble play but wouldn't it be hard to give the whole table calling ranges to get some figures? Lots of other factors would affect these ranges.

OK, there is a bunch of woolly thinking going on here.

My general rule, which comes from analysing hands in SNG Wiz/SNGPT as well as experience, is that the hands you can shove from UTG with 10x BB are 77/88+ and AJ/AQ+, everything else is in the muck. 77 and AJ are really close and usually end up around neutral EV.

Flat calling or raising 3-4x BB (and then worrying about whether to fold to a shove) with 10x BB is awful unless you are trapping with AA and there's a LAGGtard at the table who has raised every hand so far.
