with such a blank turn should i have checked and hope to pick off a bluff on river, in case he peeled with a pp. i'm thinking he's drawing to fery few if any outs.

I would not have raised flop for same reasons you suggest for checking turn. As played I would def check now and try and rep a bluff. If he has Ax the money is going in on river anyway.
