Bit of a tough spot, and this is very read dependent. Against a LAGG player I'm happy to shove over and see him call with hands we beat. Against a tight reg I am folding very fast indeed.

The problem is that this hand has really bad reverse implied odds because it's going to be hard for you to fold on an A or Q high flop.

i agree read dependent. but i get into these situations quite bit where i don't have a great read either cause its early in the game, or player is just avg. not getting to out of hand. against a super looseagg opp raising lots pretty standard shove, against tight player fold.
its the avg player i have a problem with

i agree with reverse implied odds, cause i;m almost never folding if i hit an A or Q unless its some funky connected board. but i'm not to worried about that cause i can see him calling with lots worse hands when i hit a pair.
its the majority of flops when i don't hit where i have to play oop and opponent is going to c bet most of the time. i'm putting in a fairly high percentage of my chips oop when i have to check fold most flops.

if you've no real reads early on and are worried how to play it then just fold... dont second guess yourself, make your decision an easy one and muck 'em

I would. Again, against a tight player I'm happy to let this go but without reads I'm happy to shove this.

Hey guys - not been for a while with xmas and all that so hope every1 is ok. Just getting back into the swing of things.

This is interesting though. Although I agree with all above with regards to if we had reads but one thing I don't quite agree with...

Do you not think it looks horrible to fold to such as small bet? If we are deciding not to push over I'd prefer to call even with the intention of giving up afterwards (if that's how you feel against this min raise - that he is strong)

I say this purely for the fact that if I saw some1 raise from EP then fold to a min then I would test this player out by raising him myself. Think about it from an observant players from of view. What would you be raising with that's good enough to raise OOP with but not good enough to call a min raise? Surely even a rock would call getting 5-1 with a pair and I guess you'd call with suited connectors with good odds and the chance of stacking him..

So if was me playing against you I'd put you squarely on what you've got - an Ace with an unfavourable kicker.

Its just little bits of information you don't want to give decent players.

Not sure if you guys agree but I'm now trying to look at the bigger picture now and not just the hand in question.

So as played I'd call and if your weary about strength then weigh it up on the flop and you don't have to continue if it doesn't feel right after that.

your implied odds are so horrible I'd just fold OOP unless you have reads that he's a total monkey 3-betting with ATo or KQ.
Playing big pots at small stakes.
