Dumb question

    Default Dumb question

Are the following about equal in their effect on my BR

I shove when I have a 2 to 1 advantage and I am called in 1 spot by a player with the same stack size as me.

I call all in getting laid 2 to 1 pot odds when heads up.

I ask because I LOVE one situation and I HATE the other.

You should love both situations but you should love the first one a lot more because of the fold equity you have.

True, but assuming you know you are 2:1 favorite would you like villian to call or fold in case 1 ?

With heads up, ICM principles no longer apply. It is the same as playing cash.

For example, if you are playing a 10 man SNG that pays out 25-15-10, when you get to heads up you are playing for $10. You already are guaranteed $15. You can give a set value to each chip that does not change.

When playing a SNG against multiple opponents, the risk of the call has a much greater negative expectation. So of course you hate it.

Interesting point, of course if we are guaranteed to be a 2:1 favourite we would like Villain to call

The other interesting point is that if we are guaranteed that we are 2:1 favourite and there is only one opponent in each case, from a chip EV perspective both situations are equally good, however from a $ EV perspective it depends on chip stacks as to which situation we prefer.

Just looking at the pot odds fails to account for the card odds. 2:1 pots odds look much better when you have a hand that rates to be +EV as opposed to some rag-rag holding where being a 2:1 dog is about the best you can expect.

I don't like the second too much too, but it's still a good situation, just not as good as the first
