Angry Super good / Awful week

Quite funny really. I doubled my bankroll this weak and feel like shit about it. 220 --> 480$ ftw. Pretty much all that profit is over 100 4.10 SnG KOs at stars. Ended with 1611 for leader board which was good for 10th (Woot Battle of Planets tourney ticket).

And the week SUCKED. Why? Because I ran breakeven for the last 25 games in the 100 game set. I played like shit and got coolered a couple times too. Especially bummed that I won 18 buyins over last 22 games, dropping the last 5 altogether (some very lamely).

    I learned alot.
    1. I kindof suck at playing under pressure / don't really like playing 20 SnGs per day 3 days in a row when I have other things I'd like to do.
    2. I could be alot better at poker. Especially learned NOT to stack str8 flush draws on the turn unless you're getting good pot odds. Stack 'em on the flop all day though.

    And a brag:
    got 26 1sts
    only 14 2nds
    and 22 3rds
    over the past ~130 KOs

Actually all that means is that alot of passive fish get to headups and click fold when the blinds are 200/400.

Anyways, this week I'm probably not going to get in 100 games, but I hope to play maybe 50 and post some hands here and improve.

    Thanks.

    3. Variance is a bitch in poker, and handling the emotional swings of a winning/losing streak is a very important skill to learn.
    4. The long term in poker is thousands and thousands of games, not tens or hundreds.
Well done on your winning run and on building your bankroll! I added a couple of things to your list.

Both very true. I grasp those concepts to some extent but defineately not perfectly. I handled a couple 7 or 8 game losing streaks where I played well quite boldy but at the end I coupled bad play as well. Defineately a big learning week in poker both strategy and emotionally. I just kindof got attatched to the idea of hey I'm on track to win 200+ and a 200+ bonus this week and when that fell through I was kindof let down. (Though I shouldn't have been since I played well 90%+ of the time).

Play long enough and you'll experience variance that is far more extreme than you could ever have imagined. I'm talking about 1000+ game breakeven stretches as well as unbelievably good runs where all your 2 outers hit and you pick up monster hands every second hand.

The trick is remaining emotionally stable throughout the good and bad runs so that you keep on making the best decisions that you can.
