K9o folded to in SB vs big stack BB ($12/180)

Default K9o folded to in SB vs big stack BB ($12/180)

BB's stats were 23/15 over about 35 hands.

I seem to come across this spot quite often. Most likely BB isn't calling wide enough to make shoving this -EV (I think the breakeven is somewhere around 20%), but is there a better way? Is standard raising then folding to a shove just being exploitable?

nope, no better way. nits will make goofy folds, decent folk will raise lots of stuff you flip plus some worse and you'll be making horrible folds.

Agreed. Push or fold, and fold only if you've been pushing a lot (50% or more) and BB tends to call a lot (25% or more). The pot is juicy enough to risk taking a stab regularly but not if you are flipping or dominated 1/4 times.

this is 20%, you'd have to have some kind of super crazy image to get called this wide which for Tai is never going to happen. in practice I doubt more than 5% of MTT players would ever call wider than 15% no matter what you've been up to. so just always shove

Does it matter much where we are at in the tournament? By the look of the stacks you are at the final table. Do we get some ICM effect in this hand that would make our decision any different? Thanks

if it's the FT and we think he's going to call close to correct might make it a fold or raise/fold but much more often it will mean he calls much tighter and the shove is even better

I'd shove this all the time but I run into AK 99% of the time.

Thanks for the replies. Forgot to mention that I had been shoving quite a lot recently (because I had a very short stack) and maybe an orbit or two ago had shoved crap in the SB, got called, and doubled up when I sucked out.

I don't think it's terrible to raise-fold with the bottom of your range here but definitely never with a hand that as has much equity as this one.
