    Default How to prepare for this $300 rebuy&add on tourney?

    Hey,guys. I got a free entry into a $300+30 buy-in tourney featuring rebuy&add ons in my local casino.Starting chip stack is 3000 and starting blinds is 25/50 and will increase every 30 minutes.Top 30% from each days play(Friday and Saturday) will advance to the final on Sunday may 16th.Rebuy $100 for 3000 chips only available before level 4 and you can add-on $100 for 3000 chips at the end of level 4..BTW,they pay out for top 10 spots given that there are probably around 100 entries. Should I rebuy immediately before the first card is dealt?

    You can take the rebuy at any time before the first break as long as you are below your original chip count. I'm happy that they drawed my name and gave away one free entry worth $300.If its not my free entry, i wouldnt talk about it here cuz i cant afford to play this tourney.Given that i dont want to invest too much money and can only take rebuy and add on once,whats the best strategy for my game plan? Should i still gamble with AQ+, 99+ preflop during rebuy period and try to maximize my winning chance? Yeah, these live players suck like HELL!! We definitely have huge post-flop edge.

    with that structure I am guessing you may be playing 99 plus for value pretty quick. I would just take the rb right away, good value, would suck to hit the 4th level and have 3500 although I guess you could probably just gamble 500 in the last pot or something.

    You have to use it right away because that's the only way to make sure you can use it at all. Having too many chips to use the rebuy would be a disaster. As doc said you could gamble away a few chips but that kind of sucks because it means whatever you did to win those chips was a negative freeroll. Just use it right away.

    Thanks,guys.I might also take the add on depending on the $ involved in the tourney.

    I took rebuy once and add-on once.I have some question about this hand just after rebuy period. SB/BB is 200/400 with $25 antes. 9-handed table. UTG raised to 1.1K who had about 120k stack,I got dealt 99 in MP1 with about 6k stack.This guy sometimes opened wide in MP and stole couple of pots ip when shown weakness but nothng out of the line. He just doubled up with Ace high flush draw vs Jack high flush draw(fish c/r him and both got it in on paired two tone flop). You guys fold or shove with 99 here? The rest of the table are very timid and often fold to push.

    Don't think of specific spots before they happen. A flip would be the result of your shove and him calling with villain having 2 over cards. Think more how 99's equity fairs against his UTG open range:

    Hand 0: 47.768% { 99 }
    Hand 1: 52.232% { 77+, ATs+, KQs, AJo+, KQo }

    The above is just an example but villain might not call with everything he is raising here (although most good players would probably feel they have to). 99 is definitely a shove here vs most players who know what they are doing.
