Fire again. The only hand that has now caught up to you is Kx, which when you consider all the other hands that opp might have, is a relatively small part of his range. Make it 300-350 to go and take it from there.

It would be a different story if the turn was the A of course.

Yeah agreed, I'm def firing again.

Tai, I really think we should introduce spoons concept of

"put your opponent on a god dam range"

I think it would really help with analysis.

A hand like the one above is a perfect example of where villains range makes a bet the obvious decision. We could then include concepts like hand combinations / blockers and how that should affect your decision making.

    thanks guys.

i did bet and took the hand down.

just thinking, what are we doing if we get reraised on the turn?
after our turn bet, the pot is around 900, we have a similar amount left.
just seems a bit messy to contribute 40% of our stack and then fold.

is a bet of 300 a blocker bet?
what determines a blocker bet; a bet which is a pre-determined amount of the pot (ex. 40%), or the psychology with which we implement when we make the bet?

Yes, sucks to put in all of those chips and have to fold, but given it's first hand and you still have 900 behind I think you can pretty safely fold in the knowledge that you don't have nearly enough equity to call here.

To me, a blocker bet is a river bet that may enable you to get to showdown more cheaply. The logic is that if you bet, opp might just call allowing you to show the hand downl, but if you check, opp may bet more than you may want to call. May also be a bet size that you can get away from if opp raises/shoves.

Agree, put your oponnent on a range and fire again. If you would get raised you cant easily fold with the knowledge you're behind. Remember it is very early and 900 still is 40+bb.
Block bet river just to get as cheap as possible to the end of the hand, he cannot bet you out of it
