Default Assigning a range via pokertracker stats

Apart from betsizing - how much to bet and when - managing to assign a range to an opponent is what I'm struggling with the most.

I'm still running my pokertracker hud as was when installed and have a handle on using that to aid my assigning a player type label to villains.

But when it comes to interpreting vp and pr into a hand range, I am as I said struggling.

I saw an article from a magazine that my friend has in his wallet giving an explanation but he didn't know from where said article had come.

Can anyone help out giving ranges according to the vp pr %ages. It would be really appreciated, not least by me.

Eg I have a villain with 34/6 after 60 hands. Well if he raises I'm getting out of the way unless I have probably KK-AA. Maybe I'm playing QQ but I'm not sure if I should be. And I'm passing Jacks most probably, Tens and below definitely. AK urgh, dunno - maybe I'm looking at a 3 outer. AQ again a pass.

Any advice on how best to interpret pokertracker to gain the mot benefit is most welcome.

I'm somewhat confused by what your question even is.

    if villian is 30/12 vpip/pfr

    30% is 55+,A2s+,K5s+,Q7s+,J8s+,T8s+,98s,A7o+,A5o,K9o+,Q9o +,J9o+,T9o
    12% is 77+,A9s+,KTs+,QTs+,JTs,ATo+,KJo+

these are generalizations though. 30% for one player might in 22+ while dropping other hands.

There is no way to know exactly what hand range your opponent has (other than static playing of a lot of hands which happens never).

Do you have/use/understand pokerstove? it's free, spoon makes a video/post about it somewhere in BC i think. Pokerstove will tell you what a 30% range generally might consist of and the equity a specific hand (or hand range) has against that range.

for example QQ has ~60% equity vs a 6% range preflop (88+,ATs+,KQs,AKo)
you really need a better sample than 60 hands ( he might have been dealt AKs QQ+ 4 times in the last 60 hands or conversely he's had a cool deck and raises way wider than that range) What I mean here is don't be SURE those are the only hands in his range. But it's as good a guess as we have outside of showdowns.

Do stuff like this I guess? A lot depends on stack sizes and position, it seems like you are trying to look at it from a difficult angle. 34/6 is one part of a larger equation. Try putting together a sample table with stack sizes, blinds, etc and then asking specific questions. Then you work back from there to the general "strategy" of what to do when 34/6 raises.

Thanks very much drmcboy/dneureiter, pokerstove is yet something more that I haven't had a chance to play with yet.

My initial post was just a throwout of some random typical figures I've been encompassing.

When I get back from Amsterdam - watching the World Cup Final there (Holland vs Spain)

I'm gonna knuckle down and see what pokerstove can add to my knowledge base.

    ta, mate.

download poker stove, type 30% into it, and you have a range. it's free and easy

otherwise I'm guessing you could google and find something that lays out the basics
