    Default Advice on Tourney

    Hello everyone,

I am kind of new here, at least I took a LONG break from SNG's due to other obligations.

Anyway I have decided to get back into them now, and would appreciate anyones advice and criticism on one of the tourneys that I recently lost. Since I came back to the game, I have been basically break even.

This is a $2 + .25 game on Full Tilt. My bankroll could support up to the $10 + $1. But I am not sure that my skill could support it.

So you guys tell me, do I basically just suck?

    ---Tournament Summary---
    SNG: Payout unknown

    You played 7 hands (46.67%)
You raised 5 times preflop (33.33%)

hand 2: if your gonna 3 bet make it a bigger, close to a shove pot is ~13% of your stack. and at the 2.25's many worse hands will call.

    hand 3: fold UTG.

hand 4: close to shoving over raise pre with 77

hand 5: never min raise here, especially with a limper before as he's never folding. don't mind trying to limp along MP, i fold in earlier position as theirs a good chance you'll get raised and have to fold.

hand 6: no need to open shove, make it 150. you loose lots of value as lots of hands that would call a standard raise at this level are going to fold to a shove. (ex. many Ax's, and K10+ will call a standard raise at this level).

hand 7: meh i probably fold with 5 BB unless the blinds go up before they hit you, your not gonna get UTG to fold and good chance your dominated, but again meh.

read taipans post about low stake SnG Do's and Don't s it will defianetly help with some of the leaks in your game.

Thanks for all the advice Fulksy, it helped a lot. I see a bunch of errors now.

Hand 3 - I really knew I should have folded but I thought since I was the chip leader, maybe I could afford to call and see the flop with AJo.

It is hard for me to make decisions sometimes in these micro stakes games. Everyone seems to play so loose. In fact with the tracking software that I am using, it only labels myself and maybe 1 or 2 other players as TAG.

I have been studying the book "Sit'n Go Strategy" by Collin Moshman, and have seemed to be improving a bit. But I am not so sure that the principles apply to micro stakes ($2) the same as they would apply to $20 - $100 games. Surely there is a major difference in skill levels.

I have learned alot from Taipans post, I try to make it a habit to read it daily.

    no problem.

yea i have read it, much of it doesn't really apply to micro stakes.

yea taipans post is dead on, and if you get it down you'll have no problem getting a decent ROI at the micros.

hand 2: What's the point of this gay min-three-bet?
Against good opponents just call, play the hand slowly in position
Against most donks at this level, just shove it.
    Flop is fine.

hand 3: Fold pre. Hardly ever open limp, especially not with a hand like AJo that plays lousily in multiway pots.
Flop is fine, turn is bleh. I'd probably have called too, expecting to see a set most of the time.

hand 4: Fold or shove pre, depending on opponent. Calling off a significant part of your stack to play out of position a with a hand that is hard to play out of position, sucks.
Flop: turning a hand with showdown value into a bluff is a bit sloppy, imo. He'll fold TT-88, but that's not a big part of his range. Then again - check-call, check-fold and openshove don't seem much better. You really put yourself in a bad position with the call pre.

hand 5: What's the point of this min-raise? Just call, you have the implied odds for set.

hand 6: There's clearly still room for normal-sized raise. (Although, with donks at this level calling you wide, an open-shove can be very profitable too. The problem is, you probably shoved it not because of this, but because you were afraid to play the flop.)

sngs are a great way to make a good buck just play at whatever level your confortable at and you can afford
