Default AQo, A high broadway flop ($27)

Opp's stats were 27/11 over 90 hands. What's your river move? Is he bluffing the river after my turn check behind?

Can't see a hand we're behind other than KQ, A4. 2 pair/sets raise the flop and AK probably reraises pre OOP. probably calling, do you have other notes?

why check turn? checking turn makes your hand look more like QQ-KK and might inspire him to turn his KJ/QJ type hands into a bluff.

Certainly at my level this could be a donk slow playing 2 pair, a set or the nuts. Gotta think at your level he'd try to get some value and not just shove the river. Do people call a pfr and this flop bet with A4 in a $27?

I'd also be interested to hear why you checked the brick turn. I guess if you bet you're committing your stack if he calls but might this not be a decent place to do that?

    I'd call river.

I think both checking behind on turn and betting flop bigger, then shoving blank turns are plausible plays.

What's wrong with that? He'll rarely call with 2nd pair with Ace on board, so if he turns it into a bluff, that's a good thing.

There are merits to checking and betting the turn IMO, I'd lean toward betting. But if we check behind I assume it's to induce bluffs sometimes on blank rivers so I think we should be calling.

I checked the turn for two reasons - a) pot control and b) to induce a bluff. Although these objectives are somewhat counter to each other, I think there are enough benefits from both to justify the turn check behind.

I see this move fairly often. Players who can't think on multiple levels often interpret the turn check as weakness turning Kx, Jx, Tx type hands into bluffs. Sometimes he'll surprise you and pitch up with KQ or something dumb that he realised he needs to extract value from, but his range is fairly wide given the way you played the hand. Call.
