National Coming Out Day

I'd like to ascend the soapbox today, and encourage everyone to "come out as an ally to the LGBT community" and do something to promote equal rights for all people. When I first heard this phrase I thought it was pretty stupid, until I was challenged to put it up on my facebook status. And ashamedly, I found it difficult to do, because most of family disagrees with me, and "OMFG!! I ain't no gay!!!!", etc. There are likely events in your local community to support National Coming Out Day. Do something positive with your day and attend.

Thanks kmind for being supportive. After attending multiple events yesterday, I'm quite convinced that the LGBT community needs more straight allies to stand up and be vocal with their friends, family and neighbors. I realize it's uncomfortable to talk about (for reasons stated above), but if someone is going to judge you for supporting equal rights, do you really give shit what they think anyway?

I admit to using "gay" and "fag" and stuff in the past in the wrong usage but now when I read that it gets extremely annoying.

But personally, I think that for National Coming Out Day it should have been like at the beginning of the Super Bowl when everyone busts out of the tunnel through the paper and there would be bunting and confetti and a band and stuff. Then the outed would do jazz hands and everyone would clap and cheer. It'd be great.

The day my son "came out" two things went through my head:
1) WTF he hasn't shared the pussy anyhow! (And yes he gave it one hell of a shot at trying out the pussy!)
