Default This is an obvious check, right?

Brain fried at the end of a long session. Feeling like:

Private tournament (50/30/20 payouts), SB chipleader is mostly taggy but can mix it up a lot as the chip leader.

I figure I am good here almost always, but will probably only get called if I am behind given the flop texture, unless SB is on an unlikely spade draw. I think spades or any vulnerable (eg non-set/2 pair) made hands that beat me would bet the turn.

If I bet, this usually tight villain might think it was a float and now a bluff, but probably won't do anything about it (ie calling light or raise bluffing).

Checking should induce a lot of river bluffs or loose calls when spades miss and I bet at it, right?

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, 3.3 Tournament, 75/150 Blinds (3 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    SB (t7575)
    Hero (BB) (t3808)
    Button (t2117)

    Hero's M: 16.92

Preflop: Hero is BB with 6, A
1 fold, SB bets t400, Hero calls t250

    Flop: (t800) 3, 4, A (2 players)
SB bets t450, Hero calls t450

    Turn: (t1700) 9 (2 players)
    SB checks, Hero checks?

And your logic definately applies here. Even the simle thinking of checking to see your free card and pot control in case you don't improve.

    k. I checked behind.

River is an offsuit 6 and he bets out 1000. I have about 3k left behind. I obviously want to shove given my strong hand, as all I am losing to is sets/A9/some crazy 52/75 hand.

But really, how many hands does he show up here that 1) call my shove 2) I beat and 3) that take this line? A4/A3? Him having something strange like 43/64/96 isn't impossible, but seems highly unlikely.

I just cant see him taking this line with AT+ given his character and line on this board texture. Maybe I am just over-thinking this, but this player is actually competent.

What about how he percieves you? What if he has sth stong like AKs and given your line he thinks he is strong and he value bets? You think that if he had say AK AQ he would check the river?

I had been tight (card dead) this game, but most of what he remembers of me is probably semi-loose/aggro, but not at all a maniac. I tend to bubble these games much more often than anyone else, but also win more than my share. Most of my loose moves are preflop.

I meant, I think if he had AT+ he'd have bet the turn given the board texture.

Now that I think about it, I think he could show up with A5/A7/A8 given his line (including the river bet perhaps), he'd probably call my small all in with those given the action too.
